Hmm second turbo not kickin in?

Alright so today I was messin around with the car again and decided to solve the brake issue and what not. Sooooooo, i thought I did and didnt but thats not the point. The point is I was really curious as to how it felt go past 4,ooo rpm since I have only broken in about 500 miles or so onto it....well the thing is it fellt a little slow, as if the second turbo wasn't kicking in.....this was a 3ed gear run, the turbo start too get really loud by 5500 rpm the squeeeeeeeeeeeelll sound like a drill but I just didnt feel the 10-8-10 psi boost. I dont have a guage yet but I should really get one. From what I understand that actuator opens up the flap in the exhuast manifold to allow air into the second turbo right? Is it possible it isnt opennin for some reason? I sweare it feels like its lackin the second turbo.

Yes, that could be the cause. There could be a million other causes too, so best to search this forum, and check out this site.

There are other sites that have good info on them, find them in the newby/FAQ sticky thread.

I had the same problem when secondary kick in, it would sound like a drill..well it turned out that it was a melted vacuum line that goes at the top of the CRV. well maybe that would be of some help.

You should have your turbos taken away.

You know you need a boost gauge so get one. Meanwhile you can troubleshoot using a cheap vacuum/pressure test gauge and several feet of rubber vacuum/waher fluid line. You can run it from under the hood at the windshield thru the door window.

Do a 3rd gear 35/40-70 run. Record it if you can. At least have an assistant hold and watch the gauge.

To find out what is going on with secondary is to tee your boost gauge into two locations:
1) The line that feeds the pressure tank, and tee into it before the check-valve: see boost build, drop at 3500rpms, build again and hold
2) The line behind the 1" charge relief 90 deg bend, which is the second turbo's activity: see nothing, boost builds at 3500 rpms, and holds. You should see numbers close to these below:

3rd gear - WOT

2000 RPM - 0PSI
3000 RPM - 0PSI
3500 RPM - 0PSI
4000 - 4500 RPM - Roll up to 8 PSI +-1PSI
4500 + RPM 10PSI

What is happening: Page F-84 in the manual

0-4000 RPM -
Precontrol controlled by ECU,
CRV off (Venting)
Charge Control Valve on (closed).
Turbo Control off

4000-4499 RPM -
Precontrol Optimized by ECU,
CRV off Charge Control Valve on (closed).
Turbo Control off

4500 RPM -
Precontrol fixed (5% open)
CRV on (closed) and Charge control valve off (open)
Turbo Control on

If you don't see any pre-spool before 4500 then the precontrol is not working.
