Ground Zero Oil Pan Are You Running It?
I have a GZ oil pan on my engine now and I am just wondering if im going to have any problems with the fitment of anything else due to it being 8mm thicker and therefore raising the engine by that much. Do you think it would be nessasary to cut the motor mounts down by this much to make it work? I have yet to put the engine in the car so im looking to prepare for problems.

You dont have to cut the mounts down any, but it does make the engine a bitch to install with the pan in place. You have to leave the mounts off until the motor is in place, raise the motor/trans up all the way against the tranny tunnel, then you barely have room to get the mounts in place and installed.
Mazda really should have left an open end in the front of the subframe, where the motor mounts go, so that it'd be easier to get them into position.

it's not that bad.
FYI, you cna leave the passenger side mount on an djust put the driver's side on when it's in the car.
one thing to not though; i had to enlarge the holes for the motor mount bolts. you might want to check to make sure the bolts will go in BEFORE you stick it in the car. otherwise, you'll have some fun trying to get them on...

I've wondered if th GZ oil pan would cause interference with the strut tower bar. One of the reasons I've held off getting one. I had a GAB sturt bar that rubbed on the coupler on my Greddy intake elbow. Now I use an OEM strut bar that barely misses touching the coupler on my Greddy intake elbow.

I had to modify both my Cusco strut bar, and the Greddy elbow so that the strut bar would fit with the use of the oil pan.
If I had to do it over again (the engine was still out)... I would cut about 4 mm off of my solid motor mounts to lower the engine a bit.
There is another reason why I would lower it; the single GT35R kit I've installed has only about 1/4 inch clearance with the underside of the car. Since I'm using solid motor mounts it should be okay as the engine will not move.

i got fc hard mounts and just cut the driver's side stock mount bracket down a bit. my strut bar touches the silicone on the greedy elbow, but not too bad. eh, engine movement limiter

Yeah I was wondering about the strut bar also as I have the Cusco with Greddy Elbow also and it does rub a bit at the joint. Well I guess I can forget about useing this bar anymore.
