Exclamation Just swapped exhaust systems, and aye carumba is it loud!

I guess I had forgotten how loud these cars can be .

old system: downpipe, resonated midpipe (magnaflow muffler), PFS Catback complete with a decent sized dent in the pipe that feeds into the muffler

new system: downpipe, midpipe, HKS Super Drager Catback complete with 3.5 inch piping and a drilled out muffler section (courtey of a former owner).

The old rear-end dyno says that there is most definitely more power, especially above 6k rpms. Along with my new hotter ignition setup and my mandrel-bent rear turbo inlet pipe, I hope to improve on my #s during an upcoming dyno session. All I need to do is hot-wire the fuel pump to the battery and pick up some c16, and it's 20 psi here I come

the previous owner thought the catback was clogged so used some kind of tool to remove most of the muffling material. Makes the car insanely loud, and may improve flow. of course, it may introduce turbulence and hurt power, so who knows. the catback was sitting in my garage collecting dust, and I had been running my PFS since 1999 (it was my first mod ever, been on a damn long time) so I figured what the hell.

Hey Rich, when you gonna start shooting flames out of that exhaust Can't wait for you to get that thing on a dyno. I have seen a previous movie of your car on a dyno and loved it.

thanks . That was on a dynapack, so the 4th gear pull isnt as extended and doesnt sound as cool. Plus, they supposedly read 5% lower. The shop owner/dyno operator had told me that just by going to a dynojet I would make 440 or so. With this setup there is no way I will ever make 500, but I think 450 would look a lot better in my sig, don't you ?

^^ Kai good call.

I just installed by RB duals and it's heaven compared to the magnaflow exhaust that I had on there before.

The droning on the freeway drove me nuts

Does the resonated mid-pipe really restrict that much exhaust flow and power?

I'm hoping to find that out on the dyno. Will do a midpipe pull and a resonated midpipe pull, time permitting.

I have the HKS HiPower and I'm waiting on my Apex'i Power FC and midpipe... So for right now it's pretty damn quiet.... I watched a vid of my car at the track and after the 1/8 mile you couldn't even hear the car anymore... just the BOV =)
