Got boost... No torque...Help!

Hi guys,

Really need your advice on this. I jus got my FD a couple of months ago..... I have been trying to solve this problem but to no avail. My sequential twin turbos has boost..... no problem on the 1st turbo but when the 2nd turbo kicks in at abt 4500, my boost goes up to 9.0, rpm shooting up.... but the car is not really pushing forward with the boost. I also hear whistle sound, and air leak like sound - abit like fart sound.....

My question is, where are the possible air leak for this kind of symptons? The turbo is working but leak is somewhere?

Appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thanks!

I had a problem similar to this and it ended up being a check valve i believe, or whatever those green valves in front of the intake manifold are.

Thanks for the pointers! Need to check all my valves again...... I was actually suspecting the Y-pipe connection or the O-ring.... Not sure if they could be the problem as well....

Btw, what are things I need to look our for when checking them?

If you have a boost leak then your boost guage would likely not read 9psi on the 2nd turbo. But if you can hear a big wooshing sound then I'd check the y-pipe connection first, then all the other intake piping connnections.

If your double throttle is stuck closed (bad solenoid, vacuum line, etc) you will see high boost on the guage but have little power, less as the revs climb. An easy check for this is to unplug the vacuum line on the actuator on the top back side of the intake manifold right near the throttle body.

A clogged cat or cats can also give similar symptoms, boost w/o power.

Sounds like it might be a clutch slipping terribly. My car was starting to do that before rebuild; would hold fine until it started boosting, then the RPM's would fly up similar to being in neutral and throwing revs.

When I think of farting noise, I think of Fuel Cut...but maybe that's just me.

Ha! I think about changing the kids diapers. Fuel Cut would be a good way to avoid having to change them in the first place.

I did suspect a clutch slips.... I smell burnt clutch sometimes and my clutch may be goner...... but the whistle sounds(at times like fart sounds) spell leaks for sure... coming from somewhere which i have yet to troubleshoot....

I think we might be talking about 2 problems here..
