Goopy seal

Less 5k miles Housings where resurfaced 1.25 oz per gallon as I was recommended . Compression was good only pull apart for balancing and was going to reuse everything , but I can’t just unsee this and blindly reassemble. Going to have to fix it .
Is this common for goopy seal to eat housing ? What could have prevented this other then picking a differ seal?

Can you feel the striations in the housing with your finger or does it feel smooth?

nail does not catch , but you can feel smooth waves. The 9 o’clock position in the pic is deciveing it’s not smooth like it looks

I see some chatter in there. How was your break in period and you have omp running ir just premix? Which springs are you using? Just curious.

Still running OMP? What premix? What ecu, and are you running decel fuel cut? I only ask as I have goopy seals and have had no issues with them.

My opinion is you should still run an omp with an ounce or so of good premix. Goopy seals are hard, they need good lubrication. Your compression #s are really good btw, a tad better than mine. Makes me wonder what my housings look like

anyone measured the length of new goopy seals? I have a set off a customer and after alot of tossing tips and long around the closest I can get them is this. so the shortest pair is 79.88 and longest ones are 80.00. love the quality control

depending on the rotor housing width, you could end up with seals that are wider than the housings...
engine from my little thing here is a carbon seal 12A,

Ok but if I would be like 99% of end users and just blindly gamble the tips and long sections together I would end up with seals being 0.1mm long and .15mm shorter of nominal width. Whereas if you measure mazda seals or ianetti or nrs ceramics you can use them to zero your tool they are all within +- 0.005 from spec

what is your base fuel?
apex seals conform to the housing. you have excellant compression. your seals and housings have married.
you have already honed your housings. if you use a new set of seals they will need to eventually take the exact shape of your current seals.

Goopy uses a longer end piece so there is another factor that determines overall length. i used Goopy for a number of years and they worked well.

since the seals have micro-conformed to the housing you must re-install them in the housing from which they came.

reassemble and run it
