this my own opinion,i wont use them and that is just me,now do you have any cracks in the spark plug area?can you catch you nail anyware on the surface?are you missing chrome where the corner piece of the apex seal rides?if you do how thick are this areas?Did you spec them with a dial caliper to see if they are in spec?Do they look black on the bottom(from overheating)Let us know so we can help you

i just looked at them again and they dont look that bad,you might have some compression issues for a couple of hundred miles or hot start issues but if everything else on the build is thight they should do the job

Just look for some good conditioned used housings. Not really that hard to find. And a better alternative to new housings rather than risking the rest of your money on those housings.

i would buy a JDM engine and rebuild it. You can get one for under $1100.00.

^why would he get a jdm engine and possibly have even more problems to fix becasue most likly it would also have crap housings? let alone he can fix his for less the then 1k for the jdm+shipping..

theres a guy in the 2nd gen section selling housings for 200 they are s4 n/a im not sure what motor u have though. and a iron if its n/a is only gonna cost u another 75$ or so.. thats only 275 plus some shipping and u have 500 to spend.

i also hope that your 500 isint supouse to go towards a seal kit for the rebuild because then u are screwed and need to start saving.

just go make a wtb. thread in the 2nd gen for sale section and u will get what u need for less then 500

I had the same problem. My front housing was shot and the front iron did not look good. So instead of buying pieces I got the whole engine a month ago. Including shipping it was under $1100.00. I rebuilt it and I should be starting it this weekend. I am just suggesting this option. $500 bucks I know will not work for this option. It's a 87 TII.
