Rotor housing condition

I have included a bunch of pictures to get some opinions on whether or not these housings would be worth a street port and rebuild. Thanks ahead of time.
I can get more pics if needed.

The flaking and the deep groove around the far side of the seal surface, to me, says "say goodnight, Irene."

Ya both have those groove all but one side seal was gone in both housings. Well its not a loss for me really got my money out of the car. I'm thinking about donating them to my local high school auto shop so more people can get a better understanding of the beautiful Wankel.

Yes you can use them. Generally you do not want more than 2mm of flaking on the chrome housings. Also with the groove, just flip the apex around.

Don't expect the engine to make it to 150k though.

EDIT: Only thing that scares me is the coolant seal corrosion. I will try to remember the measurements in a few on how far is too far. I would definitely clean those though.

No they are smooth. And the apex seals look good also. only bad thing is 4 out of 6 side seals where gone. Only problems with engine before I pulled it was high idle(carb problem) and it leaked oil, And it had a coolant leak. Here's the apex seals from the two rotors.

i've seen worse rotor housings used. assuming you can get the rust scale off and there's no risk of the seal groove being over-eaten then i'd say use them.

the rotors---- i'd have to see them clean and i don't like rust on them. soak them in castrol super clean for 15 minutes, then hit em with the wire brush/

get all new seals, it's worth it.

I agree with drivefast 7. Now is the time to rebuild the thing. Burn a hole in your wallet and get yourself the atkins master rebuild kit. It'll hurt of front, but you'll be happy you did. Just beware the side seals do need to be trimmed.

Well if you have no use for them, then what's your price on them?

Price stands at $40 each(as is) plus shipping. But these housing do have 194000 on them I believe. May have been rebuilt. Any other inquiries pm me. Don't want to over crowd the thread.

Well I recently took a class in college and my old Auto teacher was my instructor. I told him about my Rx7 and He said he always loved those cars. Well when I told him I bought a parts car to do a tranny swap in mine he immediately asked if he could have the motor as a demonstration tool. Well I gave it some thought and I decided I would make him a "cutaway" and donate most of the engine parts to further more people on the knowledge of a rotatory. This man has always helped me in the past so I thought I would give back to him and the school. Ill take some pic when Im done making a "stand" and everything for it.
