gasoline odor during boost

ive been having this problem, where it would smell like gasoline when i boost in 3rd .. i think ive figured out why .. between the throttle body and the elbow there is no gasket .. just a dinky rubber ring .. after putting hylomar in between the elbow and tb .. i noticed the gasoline smell is very faint or close to none now .. after test driving my car the, hylomar has been pushed out from between the elbow and tb ..

is it possible to smell gasoline during boost if the area between the elbow and tb had not been sealed properly?

also .. i dont think the hylomar will keep the area sealed for long ... seems more like a temporary fix .. is there something else i should use?

I doubt your hylomar attempt has anything to do with the fuel smell you notice at boost. You need to check the seals and rubber bushings around the secondary fuel rail where it mates-up with the LIM. At boost, your secondary injectors come on to supply additional fuel to maintain adequate air/fuel ratios. If you are noticing a fuel smell at that time and that time only, then it is related to fuel being discharged to atmosphere through/around that juncture.

I've had this problem too for a while. I narrowed it down to primary fuel rail only because i saw that the hose going to the 2ndary rail is kind of wet. If that's not it than i don't know what else to do.

I doubt that the smell you hear is from the elbow leaking. You can take the elbow all together and let it idle and see if you smell anything. Mine didn't.

often the problem comes down to a faulty (or missing) check valve in the brake booster line

ive been getting that smell as well. . . thought i was just running rich and the BOV was venting it all off onto my face!!! hahaha, but it seems to smell like fuel when under boost where the BOV isnt venting. guess i need to check my check valve in the brake booster line.
