front harness wire question?
long story short. hit a big bump. ripped out the fender liner and my tire hit the harness above it. it tore up a few wires. one in perticular im wondering about.
it has a metal braided cover. and has 2 or 3 wires inside of it. anyone know what its for?
and is the metal cover, (looks like a thin steel braided line with wires inside of it) a ground or serve a purpose besides a protective shield? its a 93. manual trans. and its on the driver side.
thanks in advance

I won't let go
Probably a grounded shield to protect whatever signal is going through it. I would say wheel speed sensor, but I don't think that runs through there IIRC.
But yes, a pic would greatly help.

According to pg. Z-28 of the factory Wiring Diagram, those wires connect the Ignition Coils to the Ignitor. That diagram can be downloaded somewhere on these forums, there should be a link in the 3rd Gen FAQ's among other places.
LG/W: Front Trailing
LG/R: Rear Trailing
LG/B: Leading
They are shielded and the shield connects to ground. This should prevent the high-current high-frequency coil signals from generating too much interference on nearby wires in the harness.

Shouldn't be a problem. If I were you I'd try to secure that harness further away from the tires. Might not be a bad idea to wrap it in something larger like split loom sleeving so you can hear the tires rub against the additional sleeving and stop before they chew through wires.
