Went to cruise around the city just for awhile than came back. My bro wanted to take it for a spin, usually pretty good driver help me with most of my installs so I said alright with hesistation. Come backs and I am standing at the end of my drive way. We had a camry in the drive way to but it was hanging out on the street little bit. He comes by swinging in slowly, but I he didn't go wide enough and literally took a chunk out of the camry's bumper.. I was in ******* shock... Moves up to the driveway and now is the end result... Scrambling to call hook up bodyshops but I don't know what to expect. Some guy is coming over tomorrow to check it out and give me an est.

^Yeah, does your bro have $3K-$4K handy?

Mangazero: I remember these threads from a while back and the damage to his car is similar to yours:

https://www.rx7club.com/interior-exterior-audio-26/i-accident-need-body-advice-305306/
https://www.rx7club.com/interior-exterior-audio-26/my-car-accident-im-having-dent-pulled-out-%2Aquestions%2A-322877/

If the body shop can't pull that out and smooth it over, you'll have to replace the quarter panel, and it looks like you may need another door skin too.

Bodywork prices are no joke. A friend of mine spun his FD in the rain at 25 MPH and he took out his bumper, hood, one fender, and one headlight, and his repair estimate came out to $7K! It doesn't take much to total the car if you get into a wreck. If it's any consolation, you can pay the deductible and let your insurance (assuming you have any) take care of the rest. Of course, your premiums will go up a bit.

And never, ever, let anyone else drive your car. The only person that drives my car besides me is my mechanic, and that's it. I don't even let my GF sit in the driver's seat.

Yeah the rear 1/4 panels are the worst to get any damage done to just because the labor of wleding a new one on is 3-4x the cost of the part. Fronts can almost be a bolt off bolt on and go. But year 2-4k depending on what kind of shops you have around and if they can repair that one or have to replace the whole thing.
Good Luck.

a body shop willl most likely charge 10-12 hrs. repair time for the 1/4 and 3-4 hrs. for the door. To have it replaced will be 3-4k but that honestly looks like it should be able to be pulled out easily. Most likely the shop wont cut you much slack on the repair since they know how much it would cost to replace. arround here it would be 16 hrs @ $36= 576 plus materials 16 @ $18= 288 plus about 6 hrs paint @70= 420 so roughly $ 1300 maybe more if theywant to do some exta blending. I don't know that they'll be able to pull that out. If you look closely, there's some creasing in the sheet metal and they almost never come out clean. Plus for a nice car like that, why even do it half-assed w/ Bondo? I don't know about VA., but in Cali, the best shops charge top dollar ($90/hr), go strictly by the book, and they ream you for it too.

3k???

just buy a new fender and door, cant cost more then 75-200 bucks for a fender and like 200-400 bucks for a door (shell only, problaly mroe for the internals). just get it all repainted to the same color as yoru body and bolt it on, easy fix. then again, you might beable to even find a silver fender and door locally, i was able to and I live in Hawaii haha

i do agree that the rear fenders are the hardest to fix but it should not cost you more then 400-700 bucks for a new rear fender, getting it welded on and painted will cost more though

probably would be better to get a thread strted in the for sale section asking for these body parts...Fritz Flyn is always parting out an FD...just get the panels and have them painted. I think to paint the door and fender would be around 7-900...then probably can pick up the panels for a couple hundred off the forum each.

Yea I don't know about $3-4k. Mine was twice as bad and the guy charged me $450 with no quarter panel for the bodywork. Go to a couple places and compare prices, most likely you can get that pulled no problem. They bondo'd some of my quarter panel, so what - no one can tell anyways.

That is easily repairable. To everyone saying to just get it replaced, it is not a simple task- not to mention that once a car is cut apart, it is almost never 100% right again. you have rust through problems at the seams mostly along with seams in the jambs that don't look 100% original. Again, that depends on who does the work- but 9 times out of 10 that is the case. Just make sure that it is pulled with a modern Uni Spotter dent puller, not the old school "drill a hole and pull" setup. The unispotter spot welds little pins to the panel that you pul from and then cut/grind the pins off. First of all, you can weld and pull along any part of the dent and secondly the old style requires drilling holes which will rust/rot with time also. I would not hesitate to fix that if it were my car- it is far from destroyed and it would be less hacking of the car to fix than replace. Replacing is a last resort IMHO.

Actually, they'll leave the old one on there, use a pull hammer and pins to pull the dent out as best as they can.....then bondo it over, and prime and spray. Unless there is significant damage, IE a hole in the quarterpanel, then they will not weld another one on.

I thought Fritz retired from the business, didn't he sell all of his parts to someone?

Yeah I would say just buy a used fender and slap it on there, and then all you have to worry about is the door. It would have been a cheap fix had the door not been involved. I would have wrapped my hands around my brothers neck and swung him around like a chicken. Of course this all had to happen in the expensive car right?
