????? Cheap fix had the door not been involved? The door is the cheap part. Read above- you don't just "slap" the quarter on. The factory spot welds have to be drilled at the seams and seperated, then the new one gets fitted and welded in place, then seam sealed, then prepped/painted. It is not a front fender where you just unbolt the old one and bolt the new one on. None of the damage is severe at all. Man, you need to spend some time working in body shops . You gotta see the stuff we'd get in that insurance would not pay to replace.

Yeah I would say just buy a used fender and slap it on there, and then all you have to worry about is the door. It would have been a cheap fix had the door not been involved. I would have wrapped my hands around my brothers neck and swung him around like a chicken. Of course this all had to happen in the expensive car right?

I don't know about VA., but in Cali, the best shops charge top dollar ($90/hr), go strictly by the book, and they ream you for it too.
With a stud welder and slide hammer a good bodyman will get it so there is only a need for s thin coat. Out here the standard rate is 36/hr plus half for materials. The key would be to find a good shop that will work the metal instead of half-*** it with a ton of filler.

Again, that depends on who does the work- but 9 times out of 10 that is the case. Just make sure that it is pulled with a modern Uni Spotter dent puller, not the old school "drill a hole and pull" setup. The unispotter spot welds little pins to the panel that you pul from and then cut/grind the pins off. First of all, you can weld and pull along any part of the dent and secondly the old style requires drilling holes which will rust/rot with time also. I would not hesitate to fix that if it were my car- it is far from destroyed and it would be less hacking of the car to fix than replace. Replacing is a last resort IMHO.

i dont understand what your getting at, how the heck is trying to pull out a dent which probally will not look anything like stock be harder then undoing about 10-15 bolts for the fender and just a few more bolts for the door???

Have you ever pulled a rear quarter off a car? It does not bolt on anywhere. It is welded at various seams and filled with filler, braze, seam sealer and whatever else is necessary. You are thinking of a front fender which, yes just unbolts. Still though- depending on the damage to a fender also, a lot of shops and insurance companies will fix a fender also before replacing due to time and cost involved.

arnt we talking about the front fender? im assuming that the pics he posted up were of his front fender but on closer imspection, it might be the rear fender.

it depends on the shop that you take it too. I too got into an accident, the side body frame was bent, busted my door... Got a new door at the junk, pulled out that side body, and repaint the whole car under 3 G...
Your best bet is make friends with a independent shop owner..
