Finally getting my FD

Im finally getting my RX-7 i've been looking for like 2 years. It's completely stock with 78,000 miles on it what should i be looking for to go bad first, anything? I hope to hell not i dont have any money to fix it if i need to. I was test driving it and it has a brand new factory clutch in it thats 2 weeks old and when i shift it into second and give it a lil gas it bumps like its missing or something the guy said that is because of the new clutch when you step on it, it catches and then goes, but from 2500 rpms to 4000 it pulls?? idk hope nothing seriously is wrong with it. I think $12,000 for it was a fair deal.

At 78k miles you are looking into rebuild soon. Not having money to spend on a car like an FD is something you DO NOT want.

Typically, the first thing that goes out on a car w/ 78K is the engine! But take that w/ a grain of salt. If the car was well-maintained, not beaten on, and never overheated, the engine may very well still be strong.

As for the new clutch "missing", that doesn't sound right. With a new clutch, the owner should be babying it, at least for the first 500 miles to break it in properly. Might be the 3K "hesitation" you're experiencing, or maybe the clutch is slipping already? Was a new flywheel put in with the clutch or was the old one re-surfaced?

I was looking around on eBay when i found this one and this guy was selling a 93 with 146,000 miles and he took it to a shop and they said that he could easily get 60,000 more miles on it. I can get money just not now

I don't know about the flywheel, i dont think a new one was put in. Whats the best way to figure out what is really wrong with it. I plan on babying it for like 2-3 weeks just to get used to it. I've driven my friends Turbo Eclipse GS-T but only a couple times, i have to get used to more power. LOL he hates it when i say that.

Are you getting a silver '93 touring model from an owner in Lincoln, by chance?

Jalers [was, but has recently moved]

I'm sure I'm leaving someone out, but that is all I recall at the moment.

BTW I have an extra boost gauge for sale if you need one [generally regarded as one of the first, if not THE first mod you should do].

Hope you've got rich parents or a huge bank account. Age 17 + FD = broke.

I will do what i can to it over the winter. Nothing is wrong with it now so im not to worried. And by the way i'm 18 now

I can understand wanting and being anxious to get the FD, but that statement above just shows your immaturity level.

Most people don't plan on being in an accident, but street racing will only increase those chances. We know how to have fun, but we do it in a more safe manor.

Believe me everytime before i race i get sweaty palms and heart beating i get nervous but i do it in a safe way too SORTA, stoplights are considered safe right lol. Right before i race i think about like well what might happen but then i do it anyways and nothing happens so im not too worried about it.
