ok, so my fans shut off and i could not figure out what was wrong. so i found the fuse that blew. it was a 60 amp fuse under the hood. but now it keeps on blowing. what would cause it to keep blowing any ideas. i live in s florida and its starting to get hot. last thing i need is to over heat my motor. any ideas?

There must be a short somewhere in the system for the fuse to keep blowing. 60A is tons of current. Check for wires that got chopped up or insolation rubbed off somewhere. Something somewhere is causing the power to the fans to short to ground. Dont run you car without the fans or you'll be paying for more then spare fuses.

 

Is it blowing right when you put in a new fuse or when the motor starts to get hot or when you turn on your air? I just had this problem and here's how I solved it: First, I called "herblenny" (thanks Phil) and mine was blowing when I turned my air on. Phil told me that I didn't have a short that mine was overloading and then blowing. He said that I might want to check and see if I could spin both of my fans with my hands. One fan I could, the other I couldn't. So naturally I had blown fan motor. Picked me up a used from a forum member here for $28 shipped and she works like a charm.

Of course all that is for nothing if it's blowing as soon as you put a new fuse in because that does indicate a short somewhere. Then you'll just have trace your wiring.

You definitely have a major short somewhere. My God....a 60A fuse blowing....that would VAPORIZE a 10 gauge wire in a matter of seconds, smaller wires would be nearly instantaneous. SURELY you can think back to SOMETHING that has changed radically and recently for this to be happening....?

 

thats the thing though. nothing has changed. only thing ive changed and required no moding of the wires was my aem ecu. and that was over a month ago and this just started 3 days ago. i was on my way to a job interview (my luck huh) and it started to over heat. i noticed when i had the key to the on position the fans were not running. i jumped the fans right to the battery to get home and it worked fine. later that night i installed a new fuse, and it was fine. the next day it blew. i replaced it and it blew instantly. (this is all with the a/c off. it doesnt work anyway) someone suggested to check my relay's....any other ideas? nothing has been changed or wired that would cause this.

 

I belive that the circuit your having problems with is the blue/black strip feed to the ing. switch. I think it does the radio, sun roof, maybe head lights. But not the starter. I would pull the bad fuse and see what is not affected, and by proses of elimination start checking for shorted component. No expert but trying to help.

 

take a good look at each of the pigtail connectors to each relay. Mine had alot of dried dielectric gunk. shine a light behind each connector and look for any pins shorting together. I had a similar problem that kept popping my Meter fuse. Remember, 9 out of 10 times your problem is within 1" of a connector.

everything works on the car except for the fans. radio, sunroof, lights, everything. guess ill just start messing around with it an try to figure something out
