Ebay IGN1A setup?????....

Was looking into upgrading my ignition setup in preparation for single turbo build. We all know about the SBG Kit, but does anyone have any input on this?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mazda-RX-7-93-5-IGN1A-ignition-coil-upgrade-NGK-spark-plug-wires-harness-AEM/254567912601?fits=Model%3ARX-7&hash=item3b456e1499:g:PT0AAOSwZ~ldxez

Seems to be legit coils. I was going to just make everything myself, but if this is legit it’s not a bad deal. Anyone purchased this kit?

Thanks guys!!

There are a lot of knockoff IGN-1As, I don't believe as many as GM LS coils but there're a lot.

Looks like it could be real... he made sure to try and prove the coils were legit. Has them on a scale and everything. I mean...... after buying that you would have saved a whole 200$ maybe? Is it worth It?

He's active on these forums. I have his kit installed on my FD and it seemed like pretty good quality stuff.

He was actually able to provide me a custom wiring harness to better fit the custom installation I did (I installed the coils close to the stock location rather than the frame or cruise control location).

I actually have the original frame mount harness and spark plug wires still. I bet I still have the frame mount plate from the kit too if you are interested. You would just need to get your own coils and any hardware odds-and-ends I have misplaced since last year.

Thanks for the tag, Mike. Yes, this is my kit.

First, the coils are 100% authentic. I buy them from the manufacturer. The picture on the ebay listing shows the weight and details of the coils so you can be sure that they are legit. I know some people have had bad luck with parts on ebay so I wanted so make sure buyers could see the details of a real coil they are receiving. Also, the 2nd pic on the listing shows feedback I've received. I have this kit on my own FD along with friends, etc. The kit is labeled as "Custom" on the ebay listing because I make a custom harness, and the mounting brackets I designed are custom. The plug wires are NGK and coils are real IGN1A coils. I'm not really sure what brand to put there that would fit since it's my custom kit. Any suggestions? I'm open. Also, the harness is plug-n-play. You just attach power and ground and plug the ignitor connector into the factory plug and you're good to go. The install videos show that. So does Howzer's video. I wanted to make it as easy as possible with less room for error.

Let me know if you have any questions. I can sell the kits cheaper directly because no ebay fees of course. Both the frame rail and cruise kits are in stock.

Here's Howzer Tech installing the kit on his FD. I didn't even know he bought it or was going to do a review, FWIW.

Here's the install vids for the kits with my name in the title and in the video itself.

DrifinJim is a good friend of mine here in Pensacola, I can vouch for him and the quality of his kit. This is a solid way to go.

Fair enough

I have the kit on my FD. The quality is very good and I couldn’t be happier with it. Installation was easy and everything is plug & play. The coils are real and the frame rail location is perfect for my rhd car.

I am also sceptic about things like this on eBay because there are many cheap knock offs. I did my research before buying and found Drifinjim’s old threads. The guy is the real deal.

Glad I saw this thread. I will have to research a little bit. The Sakebomb and IR similar setup has 4 ground points including the battery. This kit looks to only have the battery ground. Curious if this makes a difference at all or if the other grounds are needed.

If anyone has insight into that, please chime in.

My setup has the battery ground and the factory ground on the rear rotor housing.

The majority of the "kits" out there are either not grounded correctly, have knockoff coils, quality control issues, etc. For about $100 more you can buy one from a reputable vendor and have piece of mind. That's not to say the kit you posted is necessarily bad, but I have no experience with it. Here is my version https://www.irperformance.com/produc...nition-system/

My kits are plug and play. There is no depinning of the ignitor connector required. They are also correctly grounded per Mercury Marine specifications for the coils. Each bank or in this case rotor housing needs to have its own ground to work optimally.

Those stupid vendor requirements have driven very knowledgeable contributions to our community away. If a vendor wants special treatment than let them pay extra for it, don't force guys that want to help out as a side gig choose between common access or monthly fees...
