dyno run today not what i was expecting

Ok so i had a dyno session today sorting my timing and fuel out
I have read out of hp
Im at 1bar boost with t70 turbonetics is this power bit low ?
No knocks and smooth afr timing is low
Only tuned to 7000rpm sounded bit nuts in there

Only problem is when i back off throttle it smoked the whole place out lol
Not sure if its oil control rings or turbo

On boost is fine no smoke when i back off peddle it does it anything over 6krpm

Let me no thoughts on power

Sorry about paper it was poooring down with rain think torque was 396.8

Oil control rings would smoke just free revving over 4K.

Do you have an oil catch can installed? If not you can remove the oil filler cap on the dyno and see if the smoke stops. You could also just need an oil restrictor on the supply line.

Power reading depend on the dyno being used and mods on the car. Don't get hung up on the dynojet numbers you see on the internet from cars with "similar" setups as yours

Edit: Just saw your second vid, that could easily be a bad turbo. Recently had a customer with an ebay Chinese turbo kit, it filled my entire dyno building with oil smoke

^exactly, if the car feels fast on the road to you that's a big indicator as well, a dyno just spits out numbers baby

Re: the smoke, what color is it and what does it smell like?

.....and who does Number 2 work for ?

First question: did you do a boost leak test by pressurizing the system?

Anyway forgot to mention when i was on dyno my dipstic popped out and oil splated a bit

I will need to fix this problem before i go back almost killed evry one lol

My turbo is a turbonetics t70 i need to take engine out to to take turbo off
No big deal i have the restrictor on turbo feed
ill give the engine a teardown inspection while its out

Just need a dry day now
Thanks for vid its almost the exactly the same as myn

Whats causing the smoke on the turbo core ? Not the exhaust the actual core was smoking

yeah well, anyone else curious why the torque is so high and out of place? that is one thing that just yells to me that something is miscalibrated with that dyno.

at 2000 it is making ~22 horsepower and ~90wtq... yeah...

So OP you gotta check crankcase ventilation and check for boost leaks before you go further

^agreed, the fact that you blew out your oil dip stick suggests pressure in the sump which should not be there.
whats your setup for the nipples on the oil filler neck? You dont have them both capped off by any chance?

I have one going into pvc into mani
Ive blanked this off but same result the mani side and vented the filler neck to open bottle
The other one on filler neck facing down was just into open air but i did block that one off on dyno day as diddnt want oil on his floor lol
diddnt even think about that this would be why the dipstick popped
It was the first time it popped to

The smoke was there even with both breathers vented to air

I got tomaro to play with it so will re vent both again and see if its reduces the smoke

Also when u say check for boost leaks u mean smoke test ?
Ive used the break cleaner arround the tube system no leaks and around injectors all seems ok

There are only the 4 nipples on plenum that have been blanked off 2 on the tps side and 2 on the throttle cable side

And when i take one of them small nippes off and rev it u can clearly hear boost leaking

Anything else i can try

Thanks for all your help by the way every one

Pressurize it with an air compressor, similar to this video

Right i have taken the turbo pipe off and made a coke bottle fit init lol with airline pressured to 20psi
and the plenum side i unbolted and slapped a rubber sheet between it and clamped it back down so
The turbo to the plenum was pressureised ( pvc valve was working no leak back) i used soapy water i had a very tinly leak on the throttle shaft aera is this normal ?

Intercooler was fine pipes were fine just the throttle rod had a tiny leak

I will have to do test again in dry and record it

Sorry i got no pics was poooring down with rain
