Different Boost In Different Gears - Is it possible?
I've looked around, but as far as I can tell the AVC-R is the only boost controller that allows you to run different levels of boost depending on the gear you are in. Is this the case? or are any other controllers capable of this?
I don't want a big flashy display just a little box I can sort out properly then stick somewhere out of the way, but it isn't looking possible at the moment.

To have the box set the boost differently in each gear, you would have to detect the gear you are in. I suppose this could be done by a micro. comparing RPM to speed. It might not be very reliable as you can spin the tires (tyres for you ;-) or depress the clutch. Otherwise, there is only the 1/2 gear switch on the transmission. Are these the only gears the AVC-R controls?

Basically, the avc-r has a gear judge, and you put in values for the car to learn the gear you're in. It's quite simple although I haven't had the time to perfect my avc-r, rob rinette's(spelling?) site gives a pretty clear example of how to set up the avc-r. I have an aftermarket faceplate installed by a stereo shop, and had then put my controller in the bottom din, it looks really clean, besides, nobody really knows what the hell an actuator controller is(that's what it says on the avc-r). It's hardly flashy though, maybe that's just because I have a faceplate that has a bijillion colors on it though. But only people that are bragging to other ppl about my car(stupid racers) tell them what it does. I fully recommend spending the money on an avc-r
It would be more efficient and easier to install a profec with the boost selection button on the steering and change the boost manualy. When your 2nd stops spinning then you can go for it. Otherwise with the scramble otion you will not stop spinning. I've tried that before

Rob Robinette, who was a bit of a pioneer back in the day. A pilot (Major) in the Air Force too, if memory serves. His site kicks ***

I can guarantee that if I had an AVC-R on display in my car when I went to bed that it wouldn't still be there when I got up the following morning
I wish it wasn't that way, but it is. Guess I could get one and take it apart to remove all the display stuff then stuff the box behind the dash somewhere.
