Doesn't have to be that one but you get the idea.
^Yep...definitely run a tap through it. If you have never used a tap before, be careful your first time. You have to "feel" the right thread path through. If you recut it wrong, then it is no better off than it is now. My advice is run the tap in from the bottom of the car if possible. Let it start with the proper threads and cut through the bad spot.

Use a tap that is slightly bigger than the existing hole. But use the corresponding drill bit for that size tap. Even if a fine thread standard size is slightly bigger I would go with that
. I found on my car the holes for the rear differential supports had a square nut inside the body which broke off completely. If this happens when you try to drill and tap you can weld a 3/16 piece of flatbar to the floor, mark and punch your seat bracket hole center. Drill and tap.
