Give it a rest Jim. You know as well as I do, that static weight distribution, whilst not the be-all and end-all does play a role in the handling of the car.

Maybe you're the kind of guy that can't feel the difference with a full tank of fuel, but for the sake of the rest of us, could you get off your soapbox for a minute?

See I'd think it MUST play a factor. There's a reason why SUV's tend to flip over, because of their high center of gravity. And likewise, there's a reason why cars w/ front engines, rear engines, and mid engines handle considerably differently, since their center of gravity is located in diff areas.

Oh and Ryan, Rizzxx7 is definitely out (unfortunately). So it's just us 3.

Read the thread on corner balancing.

True, but not anywhere near the degree that people believe it does.

The reason SUVs flip over is because people drive like jackasses at 90 mph on underinflated tires, and when one blows out, they panic and jerk the wheel.

And don't forget that not everyone gives a sh*t about 50/50 weight distribution (which, for the record, the car isn't 50/50 to start with). Not trying to indulge in a flame war but all I care about is making the car lighter. Lighter=faster...simple formula. While 40 LBS here may not make a noticeable difference, 40 LBS here, 20 pounds there, 10 pounds over there will add up. I tend to drive my car on the street 90% of the time, I'll leave the "50/50" stuff to the friday night sh*t talkers in the Mcdonalds parking lot.

Ramy - Three people is still saves us $50 or so, good enough!

VIS Racing has a dozen orders. They have 5 hatches in stock. They are going to start shipping them out soon, I was told by Simon.

You are supposed to work that out yourself.

Call and ask for a discount. Simon said that he would "work" with buyers of the hatch.

They do have at least three different types of hoods for the FD.
Scoot, Knightsport and I forget what the third one is like.

It's the Invader-style hood...I believe it's actually an original style, too.

Here's a pic of what it looks like. Note, however, that the scoop is NOT painted black like it is in this pic. I had that done myself... So the hood comes in plain CF (w/ clearcoat, of course)

David,

Did you think about getting the 99 spec (no license plate holder) urethane front end that Chuck is making?

oh yeah, for those of us with a touring model and you never use your rear wiper, you can take all the related wiper stuff off and save a bit more Fluid bottle, wiper arm, etc.

where can you get a 99 spec wing? replica or original doesn't matter to me but the only one on the VIS site (93-96year model) is about as ugly as the Batman wing posted earlier in this thread.

Thumbs up

Sup all,

I just ordered from Simon as well Money order was the only option for myself, even though shipping and credit card address are the same, which was weird.

Thanks to those who set this up!

Tim, I purchased a 99 front end and wing some time ago, haven't really had a change to put them together yet as I'm trying to do it all at once. It's got the fugly front plate holder, but I've been hassled for not having a front plate lately.

VIS is supposed to have a 99 Spec replica. Call Simon back up and tell him to get you a deal on the wing as well!

David, I have one of those black background and silver RX-7 license plate, yours if you want it or do you need an actual matching one like the back?

I called Simon 3 times today, from 3:50pm to 4:30pm (est) and Simon was never in, he'd always be back in 10 to 20 so it must have been his lunch time on the west coast. Had he been in, I'd have ordered it, but I gave the idea a rim job and never followed through and called back. I have the 99 urethane front end with no license plate to finish paying for and if I wanted to do it right, I'd be spending close to 1000 on the hatch area so I pulled out.
Maybe in the future but not right now. Be sure to post some pics and feedback on fitment and quality of the VIS unit.

Ask Simon if we can get any further discount?!?!?

This is GNX7 btw logged in on RX-Heven's computer.

Tim, I'm supposed to have the same front and back. May have to take you up on your offer sometime. Hows the weather and job market in GA? I'll be sure to post a bunch of pictures when it comes in and I get it installed. I'd like to get an official weight on it as well. Sorry they were jerking your chain, the first time I called Simon answered the phone.

Now, who's up for a group buy on Panspeed Carbon Fiber Doors???
