If I were trying to have a full replacement, hatch, FAL window, I'd try to get a wing like this on. It seems like it would help keep the hatch down and not whistling from wind drag with the weight over the far edges and also the down force it would help apply to the hatch in those areas.

Tim,

Are you interested in getting one also?? I'm thinking about getting the hatch and the wing.

Maybe we could save some on shipping and ship it together?? maybe its not worth it??

FDnewbie.. I'm going to let you handle it.. give me a call tomorrow.

I'm in Laurel, MD. If you want to do group shipping, hit me up via PM. I have a secure buisiness address in Beltsville, MD (www.swiftracing.com) we can ship to. I spoke with Simon and he said it would be cheaper to ship to a buisiness than residence.

Don't worry, nobody will know that I've got one, because I'm going to paint it.

Ryan, yea you're right shipping to a business is always cheaper than a residence when it comes to freight. I don't mind at all if the other guys are game. We kinda need to get this down ASAP tho. Oh and you don't mind having a bunch of hatches/spoilers delivered to ya, do ya? Cuz looks like we'll have a couple of people...

The only other thing is, I'm almost 100% certain that w/ VIS, they'll only ship to the address on the credit card/money order, so if you're gonna have everything shipped to you, you gotta pay for it all (meaning we gotta pay you).

I'm gonna PM the other 2 guys and see if they wanna jump in.

Thumbs up

That sounds fine. You can have mine shipped with yours to save on costs. Besides, it would be cool to meet some other FD owners in the area.

I just got off the phone with Simon, here's the deal. For a MD/VA address, shipping would be $150 to a residence. If going to a buisiness, you're looking at $125. If we get three shipped to a buisiness, we're looking at $232 total for shipping. For four, $298. Divide that up, and we can get group shipping (on three) for $77 a piece. Not too bad. As Ramy pointed out, the CC address has to match the shipping address or you'll need to use a money order. Now I have no problem with that, let me know what you guys think. The only option I can think, if you must use plastic, is you could Paypal me. I could turn around and do a money order for two or three hatches. It doesn't matter which route we go , I just would like to save $50 or so on shipping. Obviuosly individual MO's would be easiest though!

Ryan,

I just got off the phone w/ Grant lol. Didn't get the specifics like you did, but basically told him I'm game and shipping w/ a cpl of other ppl in the area. Looks like we have a definite 3 (you, me, and 02Sidewinder). I'm just waiting to hear back from rizzxx7, who initially told me he was game w/ me and him joining shipping, so he *should* be in.

Oh and I'm prob gonna be getting a front bumper and rear spoiler from them while I'm at it...so my shipping cost might be a bit more than the rest of you (if you're cool w/ shipping my parts along w/ the rest).

Oh and you read my mind about the paypal/MO thing. So far so good!

I am #8 on the list as of 11/17.
Anybody in Greater Miami area want to save on shipping everything to a shop, contact me. I ordered an entire body kit so it is costing "$213".

Raj, may I *strongly* suggest that you order your body kit in polyfiber? VIS is the ONLY company I know that makes the stuff, and it's AWESOME. All the upsides of fiberglass (lightweight, repairable, can be modified for fitment, etc), and the upsides of polyurethane (flexible, resiliant, nearly indestructible), w/o any of the downsides (won't crack like fiberglass, and isn't heavy like urethane, and won't melt/sag like urethane either). It will take about 4 weeks for them to make the parts you want in polyfiber, but it's DEF. worth the wait. My entire body kit is from VIS' polyfiber stuff, and you should see the kind of punishment it's taken. That's the ONLY way I'd go IMO

Oh yea that's right. I remember reading about that... The only thing is, that's ONLY the DRFT kit, not any of their other kits (like the classic N1). VIS makes pretty much any kit they make in fiberglass in polyfiber as well. Thus, you can get the classic N1 C-west, Mazdaspeed, and a couple other kits they have in polyfiber.

Dont Forget That Any Weight Savings May Lighten Up The Car But Will Rendure Your 50/50 Weight Distribution. Me Personally If I Had Bought It (which I Will Later) I Will Still Get The Lexan Window But I Would Buy The Battery Relocation In The Trunk, That Way Theres Still Weight In The Back So You Can Still Keep The 50/50.

Dawg, that caps lock thingy is getting real annoying lol. But anyways, about the weight distribution, that's what you have subs and amps for

Yea...not sure if it's in this thread or the other (there are a couple), but Pettit's weighs 8.5 lbs w/o the glass, but it's ONLY a hatch cover/top. No bottom stuff, so you can't put the hatch plastics back on (easily). It's made for racing purposes only, and I believe the guy w/ the orange FD @ Pettit actually has his hatch set up for quick release using Deuz fasteners, so the entire hatch comes off... I think their full hatch (w/ complete underside, like the one we're gettin from VIS) runs for $950

I hate to break it to you, but 50/50 static weight distribution doesn't mean ****.

Why? Does handling depend more on suspension setup than weight distribution? I'd think both are equally as important...

I'm glad somebody brought that to my attention, otherwise I wouldn't have ordered one!
