Mine was shipped, I'm surprised I received it as soon as I did. I've already got it installed with the stock glass, now I'm just waiting for Summit to ship my FAL window.

I'll get some pictures up in the morning. Tim, I haven't put the interior pieces in, but it looks like they should go on without a hitch. However there isn't any provision for the hatch shocks on my hatch. Since the hatch is so light it probably wouldn't work well anyway.

 

I thought these were suppose to be able to mount on the stock hatch shocks?

 

Paint it? You want to be able to see through your rear window, right?

 

I think they have "tint" paint now. I used to race R/C cars, and they use lexan bodies. They make special flexible pain that sticks to lexan for them, and there were "tint" colors as well. Check out a decent hobby shop.

 

Have you tried looking through it at night with rain on the surface.

 

Trucking company called this morning to let me know they're delivering my hatch today

 

I think if that was my worry, i wouldn't have a tinted lexan window on my car, i'd suck up the 15 lousy pounds and reuse the glass. But that's just me... you'll likely be able to see headlights and anything big enough to hurt the car I suspect.

It would be pretty hard to back up without those pesky reverse LIGHTS not brightening up that dark parking lot you mention. Besides, not everyone has poor eyesight.

 

I've a second hatch I use for racing. It's basically a stock hatch with lexan glass. I would NOT recommend lexan for a daily driver. Even the scratch resistant stuff scratches, but the real problem is condensation/fogging. When it's cool or moist out, you'll have to keep a dry towel in your car and constantly wipe the damn thing. Anti-fog chemicals like Rain-X Anti-Fog don't seen to work either.

on my track car, i have a 4 pnt kirk bar and a ms gtc wing.... i cant see a dam thing out of the rear anyway, i get either rool bar or wing or both, so ... its not to big a deal for me :-) heheheh.... gotta love those side mirrors

 

Right... the ultra-bright reverse lights which you'd barely see through a tinted-painted Lexan window.

Lights are lights and last time I looked light is the opposite of dark.
I also have to assume you never heard of door mirrors. Most people use them from time to time.

daamn that carbon hatch is sick! the only thing that sucks though is lexan material scratches way to easy.

And that it's liable to leak, and doesn't have defrost....etc. It's not practical on a street-driven car if you ask me. Stock glass is the way to go in that situation.
