best-sounding exhaust

Regardless of performance, what is the best-sounding muffler/exhaust system? My stock exhaust sounds boring, but I don't want to put on an aftermarket exhaust that makes the car sound like one of those farting Civic's.

Racing Beat dual-tip all the way! Nice deep throaty sound, very quiet at idle but vicious at WOT! It looks stock, except better too.

I just got mine on a few weeks ago and I'll be keeping one of these from now on.

You wanna talk about viscious at WOT?? HKS Hyper Carbon Ti (prob sounds the same as the HKS Hyper too).

MY GOD. That thing has an incredible throaty tone to it. I LOVE it. And at WOT, it sounds like the car is simply SCREAMING, but in a deep tone hehe. To me, that's the sound of true power. I've never heard anything like it before...

"Best sounding" is subject to each person. For instance, the Apexi exhausts have distinctive sounds; some people love them, others hate them.

What you should do is search the forum for various videos and listen to the cars. Find one you like and see if you can locate the owner or someone who knows what exhaust is on the car.

I've heard quite a few and I really do like my Greddy Power Extreme. I don't like the "look" of it though. The one I like the most was the Greddy SP.

The Apexi's seem to have a sound all to themselves. I love the look of the Apexi duals, just not sure about the sound. I didn't like the Apexi N1 at all.

The HKS/RX7.com "inexpensive" exhaust sounds like a weed-eater.

I haven't heard too many of the expensive Titanium exhausts so I can't compare those.

The Racing Beat Duals sound pretty much like stock only a little deeper. Not bad, but not what I was looking for...

It's completely subjective. To most V8 domestic folks, any 13B rotary exhaust sounds like $hit.
I think a 20B with straight exhaust turbo back and RB dual is absolute music to my ears.

Glassman, yes it's subjective, but let's keep it within a *normal* frame of reference lol. The average FD def. isn't a 3-rotor conversion

Ive been interested in what the fd sounds like with the straightpipe (midpipe) replacing the cat, and the RB dual. I have heard that regardless when you go catless its going to be loud. If anyone has a sound clip, or if you can be highly descriptive that would be great. I have been deciding between Midpipe + RB dual vs. Hi-flow cat + N1 dual.

Good info on the racing beat dual there. I also put a small sound clip of mine in there.

Btw, I had a FD with a Greddy SP before, dp, mp, and thought it was nice and deep. Now I have a "Rocket" brand exhaust system not found over here(basically a N1 style exhaust, muffler is a little different though). It sounds good I think, but I have feeling that after I add dp/mp it's going to be really loud. Luckily I have a power robbing silencer I can use if I need to. But I'm one of those people who likes loud. Like someone said above, it's all in what you like.

First off. That movie sucked ***. But that's just my opinion. Anyways, an exhaust is an exhaust. All that matters is getting heat and waste away from the motor. It doesn't matter how it sounds. However, the higher performance exhausts usually will sound better. I don't mind the greddy titanium exhaust. But i don't care for sound.

I have Racing Beat dual tip w/midpipe that has a Borla XR-1 Race welded in. Nice mellow idle; as far as full throttle, it did quite it down a little.

I am very pleased.

The RX7 engine/exhaust sound in the movie was overdubbed with a different car (non-rotary).

LOL @ fast and furious

i really dislike that movie!!

anyway, my trust exhaust sounds awesome at idle and revs.. i see alot of fd's with choppy, stuttery exhaust notes and idle but evens it out "A BIT" during revs..

By FAR, the best combination I've ever heard. I've owned several cat-backs and heard most of the ones on the market (and some that aren't), and I ended up with the same combination on my car.
