HI Automatic to Standard?

Im not really sure what the problem is but appearently my mechanic is telling me that the "solonoids" for my automatic transmission RX-7 is faulty.

He tells me that its easier to just switch it from Auto to standard so that if there are future problems with it, itll be easier to fix.

I own a 1994 RX-7 touring model. Stock everything.

Would it be easier to switch it like he says?

Is it even possible for the switch to happen?

Where would I have to go to buy the necessary parts?

if anyone could help me with these questions itll be greatly appreciated.

Get up with me on FH. I have my auto trans laying around and we can see what parts you need. Robbie.

I am not an expert but I think it will be more expensive to switch trans. the cost of all the part needed plus labor cant be less than some solenoids. If I remember right the trans works off the stock ECU, so you have to also change that.

The only reason I would ever consider an auto to manual switch would be for adding horse power modes. Even then you do not have to switch the trans anymore you can buy this adapter; http://www.banzai-racing.com/product...ss_adapter.htm
Get a second opinion and good luck.

I say switch to the manual, the car will be worth more and much more fun to drive. You can find all the parts here on the forum for less than $2k. Contact me if you decide to do the swap as I have a lot of the parts. Feel free to ask rotardrobbie about my rep, I sold him a bunch of parts for his fd.

He's got the parts. Just make sure you get them before they get sold, if not, it may take a little bit longer, but David is good at trying to get you the parts you need. Had him ship my rebuilt engine here, got here in a very good, wrapped package, no damage whatsoever. GL.

I just did the conversion. This is my first rotary car. Never done this, but with the help of some friends, it was not too challenging. If you're not mechanically inclined, don't attempt it. Do read the faq's and ask questions. By now you may have realized who are willing to help you out online and who will mention to 'search newb'. Being a newb and being frustrated, it was hard to read through the pages and find a specific answer. Ask me if you have a question, if I can't answer, I'll tell you. I won't fabricate an answer. 'Luck.
