The deadline was actually midnight last night...but if you are lucky, COsborne might be kind enough to let you in, but he might have already closed the GB. Good luck.
BTW There are two choices for the bar size (1 3/4" or 2"). Then there is a choice of a removable crossbar so that the seats can recline more (I talked to Kirk Racing yesterday and they told me-if the bar is in place-it is not weaker than a welded bar). And then there's shipping, which you forgot to add in.

I also mentioned the removable cross piece and thats why it asks for that in the info I had you pm me This is a LONG thread but all the info is here several times.

 

I have been looking for a roll bar for a while now, but was waiting to find a good place to make one for my car. I don't know what it is about the Kirk design, but I don't like that the rear points go to the wheel well and don't even incorporate the upper mount for the rear suspension. However, I see that some guys that actually track their car quite a bit (namely Crispy here) are using this bar. Some thoughts?

 

Well, I was going to buy in if someone with experience would address the issue I brought up or state whether it is an issue at all, but I guess no one is biting.

When one of y'all get pictures of the bar that mounts in place of the bins, please take pictures.

I went and looked at M2's website and like the design of their typical street/light track bar, but their prices make everything pretty cost prohibitive for me. I don't know how they're coming up with $625 for what the main hoop really is...

I'm guessing that you have to have some sort of certification to build a legal roll bar?

 

I have the Kirk Racing rollbar (not mounted in the bins). At only $300 it is a no brainer. It may weigh 80 lbs, but the additional stiffness to the chassis and safety is easily worth it. The weight didn't slow me down one bit on the track.

The M2 bar is more expensive because it is made of chromoly (spelling?). It think that bar only weighs about 25 lbs.

There may also be some SCCA rules/regulations about connecting the rollbar to suspension points for racing purposes.

I've been looking for a roll bar for awhile and considered the M2 since it does mount to the shock towers, but to get all the options the price increases to around 1000 bux... I've read discussions how the shock tower points are not a great place to mount a bar since it's not as strong as to where the Kirk is mounted. But my question is, why do most of the Japanese manufacturers mount at the shock towers? And the fact that you loose your tool and jack bins turned me away from the Kirk. Then there is price... deng for 260 or whatever it is.. it's a steal!! I can finally mount my camera mount and harnesses also having the benefit of stiffening up the chasis!!

Knowing that M2 takes sooo long to get parts from them, you tend to look for alternatives and I think the Kirk bar is the way to go... IMHO

If your not satisfied, look into the Cusco 4 point with harness bar, I believe it's cheaper than M2 and it's chromoly.

That is EXACTLY why they don't mount there. I asked that myself and the problem is that the bar goes from being a safety device (with handling benefits) to a part of the suspension.

hopefully I'll be accepting payment by friday... it all depends on when julie gets back to me with shipping prices. I think she said they'll ship out up to about a month from the date of order. I'll have to check on that to be sure.

 

Speaking of which, how do you want to work out payment? I'd like to avoid paypal because of the 5% fee, so is it possible for us I pay Kirk Racing directly via Credit Card? (I'm not trying to go around you or anything, I'm just cheap and don't want to give paypal almost $20.)

 

good question... paypal isn't a big deal here but if i can avoid the 5% THAT WOULD BE COOL. money orders are a pain in the *** though... a credit card thing would be cool.....

You I am waiting on 3 boxes from ROTARY EXTREME. I got his engine brace a set of side skirts and the rear diffuser.... now this..... got think i'm a little exciter over here.... I love getting boxes in the mail... like x-mas all yr long..... eventhough i paid for the stuff.... although i'm not sure what is cooler getting the box or installing and seeing the finished product...

merchant accounts are 3% to as much as 15% ((with a per purchase charge) - Thats why a lot of companies are trying to go with paypal now.

The best methods are money orders and cashier's checks

You can send it to kirk if you want but I can't guarantee there won't be a hassle with it. I've already established a relationship with them and they're well aware of this group buy so naturally the best choice would be to send it to my office and when I get them all I'll send them to kirk racing together with another copy of the completed order. She specifically said she would prefer one check over any other medium of payment to avoid multiple payments coming in over a week or so in all different forms.

If you guys have a better idea feel free to post it.

 

Doing it though money orders is fine with me, as like I said, I'm in no rush. Just let me know the final total and your address once that's all sorted out and I'll put it in the mail!
