Thumbs up Another boost problem CAn anyone tell me what sensor this is..

When i recently visited dave a kdr i told him that i had a problem on why my 2nd turbo will not come on in only 1st gear but when i hit 2nd gear it comes one.Now my question is he told me that it was some kind of sensor called a cp3 sensor or something like that he said it is located right behind the 2 sensors behind the pressure chamber..he said sometimes the sensor plays dumb like it gets cold or too hot or something..

Thanks

I think that should be that TCA Solenoid that is bolted on the ACV right below the manifold. He is the one that plays "Dumb" and when it gets hot, he starts messing around. Usually sympthoms of him going bad is loss of 2ndary boost in 1st and 2nd gear either/or, but perfect boost at 3rd gear.

in order to get to it, you have to remove uper manifold. It's easy to see when you take it off, because it's the only one that's bolted right next to the ports. Let me see if i can find a picture for you.

forum won't let me post picture. Just go here and look at the one that says Solenoid valve (turbo Control). It's in the upper left corner. That's the one.

Well, i know i had that problem. I mean i had a lot of 2nd turbo problems, but one night i was racing with some guy and all of a sudden i got 10-5-5 in first and second gear. So I figured that was the problem. I got one from my friend, changed it and it boosts fine all over again.

That's the only one that has tendency to go bad when the temps go up, because it's bolted on the ACV and it's also close to lower intake manifold.

If it was up to me i would change it, it's worth a shot, you can also see if you have any other poped off hoses or something under there.

I believe he is talking about the TCA soleniod. I had that problem but it was in 2nd gear. I was always told it's called a lazy soleniod, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. usually doesn't work when the temps get too hot. Have to get another one.
