air pump wheel size difference?

Sorry for the repost - posted in general tech but didn't get any responses. Since it may be an issue particular to 3rd gens.. figured I'd ask here.

Thanks.

Hey guys

perhaps this is more of a 3rd gen specific question - but has anyone noticed a difference in the size of the airpump wheel/pulley between different years? trims? or manual/auto?

My original air pump died, and I had to get a replacement, bought one from one of the forum members and noticed that the wheel is significant smaller. I'd say about 1/2 inch small radius. The belt therefore, even trying to adjust the tension all the way up, was very very slack. I was wondering if anyone knew why rx7s came with 2 different size air pump pulleys? was it due to an auto/manual thing? or year issue? Would this airpump still work on my car (93 base manual)?

Does anyone know what size the belt is that would be appropriate?

thank you in advance.

I know there are differences between the second gen airpump and the third gen airpump, but I thought that all the third gen airpumps were the same. I could be wrong though.

The auto and manual air pumps definitely have different sized pulleys. The pulley wheel on the manual is bigger...other than that their interchangable, you just need a different belt.

ah... that would make sense. Thanks Bureau. So I just need to buy the belt for the automatic rx7 and that should fit on my car just fine... right?

Sorry for the delay...yeah, the auto belt should work, assuming you haven't changed any other pulleys in there.
