If you mean that it looks like a 20B manifold with 1/3rd of it missing, they are not custom. The 13B-RE (base engine for Cosmo) used that manifold.

13B-REs are popular swap engines, because they're much cheaper than 13B-REWs and a bit more advantageous to swap.

That comes stock on the 13B-RE's upper intake manifold OK, fine, I'll go hunt for some pics...

Here's a BEAUTIFUL picture that Directfreak took...

There are at least four 13B-RE - into - 1st-gen projects completed or in progress right now...

Don't they bolt right up to the stock engine mounts?

Does the Cosmo 13B powerplant put out more power than the FD's?

Do all Cosmo 13B's have twin turbos?

Is Mazda still making Cosmos?

As I understand it, the 13B-RE mounts off of the center housing like the FC engine, and it uses a distributor-style CAS like the FC. What the swappers do is put on a 1st-gen front cover and use a 1st-gen style front cover engine mount, just like the GSL-SE or any other 13B engine swap.

All JC Cosmos had twin turbos - base engine was the 13B-RE twin turbo, optional was the 20B-REW. The FD engine is the second twin turbo 13B and an "update" of the 13B-RE. Production of the JC stopped in 1996 or so.

HB Cosmos had various engines, depending on year and trim level - including 12A 6-port carbureted, 12A turbo (4-port EFI), 13B 6-port fuel injected N/A (similar to GSL-SE engine).

CD Cosmos had 13B 4-port carby engines in the US, not sure what they had overseas. And of course, Cosmo 110S's had 10A engines
