13bre intake manifold on rew

I did a search already and could not find anything.

What needs to be done if I wanted to put a 13bre intake manifold on a rew. I think the manifold bolts up but I heard a problem with the 13brew throttlebody not working on the manifold. Any help would be appreciated.

You would need to port the intakes to match the RE LIM.

you know the 13B re has different shaped ports (on the irons) than the REW right?

Its been done many times. You need the upper and lower, as well as the throttle body. Then you need to do something about the throttle cable being on the wrong side as well as port matching the lower runners to the intake ports.

do you have to use a 20b throttle body, or can you use the RE throttle body?

Use the REW throttle body, it's the best of all throttle bodies mentioned in this thread.

It's been done many times, but most people that have done this mod half *** it by using the cosmo throttle body.

For optimal gains you will want to use:

Greddy or FEED elbow
13B REW throttle body
13B RE UIM
13B R3 LIM
Gaskets

The problem with the RE swap, is the lower RE intake manifold
flows less than a REW lower manifold.

There is more info, just keep searching...

If you use your stock FD throttle body you wont have to worry about the sensors or the throttle cable situation, and as promitheus said its the best one to use. Though you will have to make an adaptor plate.

Sorry to kind of threadjack but im considering this as well. Is it true you have to swap out both rew fuel rails to the re fuel rails in order for the swap to clear?

would it be possible to use the Cosmo RE UIM with an Excessive LIM? would major modifications be required?

This is what I have been asking Rich @ Xcessive for the last year.

He has my intake manifold collection... (REW, RE, 99 Spec REW, 20B)

so far he really likes the parabolic chamber of the RE UIM & the reworking of the late model REW LIM

its a back burner project for sure.

if I were you and didn't want to wait.

Id grab a RE UIM - LIM Gasket, have a flange cut from aluminum.

chop the top off of the Xcessive LIM

tig the flange into place

carefully weld the flange to the LIM (may have to build up your weld in certain areas.)

grind back into shape of gasket

smooth out ported area with flapper.

it may not be pretty, but I'm sure it'd work (I'm almost to this point myself)

I just dont want to hurt a buddy's feelings.

P.S. if you go this rout, mke sure you have your gasket surfaces lapped after any modification.

Xcessive has been focusing on 20B swap components at this time.

We have seriously discusseda Xcessive RE lower manifold.

I'll readdress the subject, when I see Rich next (should be within a few days)

There are a million ways to accomplish this. Not saying my way is the best but here is what I did:

Used RE LIM, RE UIM and Rotary Works 13B Throttle Body

I wanted to use the 13B throttle body because it is a really cool rotary works piece and I also wanted to save the throttle cable and TPS sensor locations. Not that it’s a big deal to relocate them but I had the Rotary works throttle body and wanted to use it. In order to make this work you have to modify the RE UIM. Minor welding, nothing major. You also have to change/Modify the following:

1. Port match REW Plates to RE LIM
2. New secondary fuel rail, REW and RE Fuel Rails are different
3. tap the RE UIM for your Air Temp Sensor.
4. modify the Brake Booster vacuum line to match the location of the RE UIM.
5. make/fabricate a bracket to hold your throttle cable in place
6. Modify your oil filler neck, cause it will hit your greddy elbow, I bought a RE Speed aluminum filler neck and modified it to clear my piping/elbow
7. Modify your IC Piping
8. Cut your Banzi motor mounts so your hood can close. I cut mine about ¼” maybe a little more.
9. Use all new RE Gaskets

here is the best pic i have of the finished product
