I think that's exactly it. For a street or street/track driven car the front lift probably isn't a noticeable difference from stock, and in fact the temps will be much better the way he has it setup.

If you were creating a race car, one that will spend most of it's time at high speed I don't think that's the ideal setup. Ideally you would find a way to duct all radiator exhaust and IC exhaust air out the sides or over the car and setup either a flat bottom on the entire car or a tunnel (depending on the rules) Aft of the center of pressure and mass of the car you have a diffuser start to come up and make it as wide as possible. (again according to rules/design constraints)

All that said, the fabrication and engineering on that setup does look nice.

On my car I'm planning a completely flat bottom on the entire car, so I expect to duct the IC air out the hood and the rad air out the hood and side of the car. I plan to make all the panels easily removable so I can switch to a street configuration easily. I'm running Damian's front splitter/undertray/rad ducting, and I'm making the diffuser now. All the will be left is the middle pieces to connect the two.

This sounds like it will require many, many pics

the only problem i find with v-mounts is that the fans are towards the ground so if water/rocks hit them they might get damaged. Also, the hoses are very exposed.

I wish that someone would make a simlar hood that would have long enough extension it could be used for ic's at different angles and widths. Maybe something a little close to an elise hood.

We will produce this hood but not with mounting points... you need to make your own.
There also will be 2 vent in the back of the hood to vent hot air from the engine bay.

btleier,

I like your setup but I'm curious to know if that tight bend immediately exiting your compressor housing affects performance in any way? Let us know what you've seen performancewise.

to be honest with you I haven't had a chance to test the setup yet. dyno tuning is scheduled for the 17th of this month. I'll let you know what kind of performance figures we're talking after that day.

Does somebody have a custom radiator? Preferably with the end tanks on the side instead of up and under?

just dynoed recently 424whp @ 18psi on e85. fairly happy with the numbers. I think the setup is working out well.

I want to bump this thread, becuase I am buying a FD with a bolt on vmount kit...no custom fab.

Is it possible to still retain A/C on a Vmount setup??

Thread Bump

Changed my setup to accomodate my 500R. Not quite done, need to create CF ducting and block off plates for the IC, radiator and intake. The BOV on top of the Turbo is recirc'd back into the intake tube.

I know, I'm a picture *****.

Intercooler core is Bell Bar and Plate unit - 10.5 in x 14 in x 4.5 in - 770cfm at 10 psi, with a 1 psi pressure drop rating.

Radiator is canted at a 40 degree angle, with Spal 16in and 14 in fans installed. Under tray in place, but with the top sandwich panel removed.

That is the most high tech FD engine bay I have seen. Almost looks like you stuffed a satellite under your hood. lol
