It was mentioned in one of the previous pages but no one commented, how come people don't put the IC on the bottom and rad on top? is there any reason for this? as mentioned before, you can drive with a damaes IC but not with a broken rad. thanks for your help.
BTW, black93RX7, did you do the 20b yourself, or was it done in Calgary? I live in calgary 1/2 the year. thanks for sharing

Usually its best to have shorter ic pipes, less pressure drop and the fewer the bends the better.

I did the 20B in Calgary, the v-mount was done in winnipeg, use to have a fmic setup.

My fairly simple FMIC to V-mount set up. As you can see with the new bumper some more modifications will need to be made. It did look good stock...

I looked throught the whole post again, and Hedgehog has that setup from page 3, one guy said it doesn't matter, but nobody else said anything else.

One problem that comes to mind is that the Rad transfers much more heat than the IC would, and thus would be heating the engine bay more, as compared to haveing it vented out the bottom. Only because I assume the coolant is hotter than air, but I don't know for sure, with a vented hood, may be less of a problem.
I don't know, I'll search now, if you know it's answered in another post please explain. thanks.

As mentioned, shorter IC pipes, but look closer at the setup above. The radiator is blowing all of the hot air right into the engine bay and onto the air filter. It looks like he has a vented hood, so if the car is moving it shouldn't be that big of an issue.

Aww schucks...and thx! :blush

I put the fittings on the bottom so that if I ever needed to completely flush the oil from the system, I can easily drain the coolers. Otherwise there's always some oil left in the cores. Oh, and prolly less chance of sediments collected in the core too.

fwiw, i've been running a "custom" vmount setup without an undertray and never have had a problem with temps..... its been rock steady in all circumstances short of roadracing (the only thing i've really yet to do with the car in its current form )

Buy a Koyo or something else, cut off the inlet pipes and relocate them towards the waterpump. The shorter the hoses the better and upward facing to avoid being ripped off from road debris.

I don't speak Irish.
But from what I could understand, you do not need a single to run a V-mount by any means.

It can be done. Got to get creative with the mounting brackets. Search for an old thread from Cossie. He used the HKS v-mount kit which re-used the stock rad re-mounted for use as a v-mount with some new hoses. He had posted some good pics which I can't find right now.
