^ Go back and look now. I realized the error when reviewing the numbers and redid them. When this thread started, we could have saved a lot of time by going to Hagerty's but we would have missed out on the fun of the debate.

LOL....yep

The hagerty stuff is fairly accurate but there was never a time a low mileage FD sold for 15k. We all wish

I'll admit the separation is huge but I've seen some crazy stuff happen with P cars. The FD could be worth more in 3 years or not. You never know but 40 or 50k isn't a big separation in the collector world and the FD is FINALLY getting the attention it deserves. Meanwhile the crazy prices (at or above retail) for the Supra have been going on for a LONG time and clearly steadily climbing.

Agreed

but there is always that one guy... Who clearly understands the intent of the statement, but yet he is compelled to throw a wrench in just to be difficult.

Here in CA and in 1998, I paid $21k for a pristine FD with a bumper to bumper warranty from a local Mazda dealer. It may sound like a terrible deal but cars have always been more expensive in CA. It is what it is... However over the years, that warranty covered close to $10k in repairs and therefore it ended up saving me way more money than those out of state folks

The truth is, 5 years ago... let along 20 years ago are all but irrelevant. The market (collector market) has only recently established itself for FDs and Japanese Supercars in the recent couples years. Z30 ZCars were "$500 and get it off my lawn" back then. Now they are setting records. I mean, it wasn't THAT long ago you could buy an NSX for mid-20's. But that ship has sailed.

It's all "back in my day" and whippersnappers and stay off my lawn now. :P

I'm sure many of you have noticed, but there are a lot more WTB (want to buy) ads in the 3rd gen for sale section than ever before. A shortage of cars (which there appears to be) will definitely bump the prices up for all FD's, even the ones that need some TLC.

Another low mileage example emerges from its cocoon and makes its way to Bring a Trailer!

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1993-mazda-rx-7-42/

Some strange wear around the HVAC controls and a little bit of odd fading of the floor mats, but otherwise looks very nice - at least in the few photos posted.

My guess is: $44,000 (it misses out on highest ever because of the tan interior)

Another low mileage VR 93 touring.

I think the 93 tan floor mats are lighter than the carpet but can't remember so that may not be fade.

Yep those Interior consoles are a mess. Very important to use water only when cleaning those and make every attempt to stay out of the sun.

I'll say 39k

The recent VR/Tan did not meet reserve at 37k. Seller chimed in after RNM, which is weird, when all along people were asking for simple things (ie. compression test).

I wouldn't be worried about compression I'd be worried about a tan interior and dang those consoles are crap.

This is the next record holder. I'll say 55k

As someone who has been looking almost daily for a nice example, this one never really appealed to me. Being a '93 model year and color combo were nothing special, the dash panels looked like a cat was trying to adjust the A/C, and no compression numbers worked against this car.

Now, lets see where this 2,800 mile SSM examples goes....

Rumor has it the SSM car was keyed and damaged with acid?

Based upon the match on the front bumper maybe not the best paint work.

Will be interesting to see the response and see how much it affects the sale.

If someone was looking for this exact color combo with low miles, this car should check all the boxes. I've seen **** box Porsches with tons of rust which sell for $$$. At this point, there are some things that could be looked over. The front bumper could be easily removed and repainted.

Agree, but for Porsche (I assume you mean 356s and early 911s) is a not great comparison because 356s came from the factory rusty. The very few perfect "museum" piece, time capsule 356s and early 911s are owned by Jerry Seinfeld The rest of us are fighting over the other "good" cars which do still have a ton of rust, accident history, etc. The perfect cars are gone.

But for 90's Japanese sports cars, someone looking to purchase a super low mileage, original car as a "museum" piece, a very reasonable "must-have" is original paint. There are still quite a few "perfect" cars available for the discriminating buyer.

Another flurry of FD action on Bring-a-Trailer? Well, we have a black over tan Touring - lightly modded with a relatively fresh (mileage-wise) rebuild. Looks in fair condition for its age and mileage.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1993-mazda-rx-7-46/

I'll guess $28,000

And not really sure what to say about the SSM time capsule example. Looks like the paint questions will really hurt this one's chances. Even given that, I'll still guess $46,000.

yep. This car will sell for 50k plus just because of the mileage and condition.

two or more bidders looking for Ssm/red and who knows how high. Either way it will be fun to watch

I'll stick with my 55k on the ssm even with the repainted areas. It's the least like a barn find of the low mileage FDs I've seen listed on BAT. In other words it was stored correctly and not cleaned up etc....

I'll say 30k on the BB/tan touring because of the Pettit rebuilt engine and turbos. Fairly low miles and lots of nice upgrades.
