How to value your FD
So this just happened..... Not an FD, but a pair of Japanese sports cars:

Same wealthy collector bought both cars. The guy has an incredible collection of several dozen cars including several Ford GTs, Bugattis, GT2 RS Porsches, Saleen S7, Cobras, numerous Vipers, Lamborghinis and several rare Ferraris including a LaFerrari The list just goes on and on...

Rich, I have a friend who’s deep in the Nsx scene and boy he was excited to see that.
We are definitely in an interesting price bubble, and I’m patiently waiting to watch a lhd FD go for six figures like others. Still kind of curious when the pin is going to go in the balloon tho.

Fritz... As usual, I pretty much agree with your assessment. The incredible money machine has caused a lot of the problems we have today. Not sure there's any fixing it even if the Fed keeps raising rates. It will slow the economy for sure, but I suspect that causes us to go into recession. Later this year. The supply chain problem isn't going away for a long time and there is no "Fed" to fix that.
That all said, I hope an FD sells for over $100,000 this year and one might.

Defiantly is exactly what I meant! Who would've ever thought a road-going s2k would sell for $200k?!?! I personally have never thought very much of this limited model and imo is beginning to highlight the 'true sports car enthusiast' who appreciate all manufactures.
Interested to see what else from JP sells for record numbers.

It seems that the going rate for the top USDM FDs is already high $70s+. The last two excellent examples on BaT had 47k miles and 24k miles, and went for $78k (CYM tax) and $77k, respectively.
The next time a truly low mileage (under 15k) original no stories example hits BaT, it should easily go for $80k+ with potential to go much higher.
It seems the gap between the very top examples and the driver-type cars is widening... I wonder if/when we will see more restoration type work done, or returning cars to stock, like you see in the MKIV Supra world.

Already seeing it, look at the builds forum. A few people removing LS engines, and more and more people doing "tidy-up" type builds. Many more people scared to drill holes in the body. End of an Era, these cars are from the height of the JDM tuning scene, they are much better with a few mods thrown at them imho

Hmm...guess everyone else was put off by this car as much as I was.

I was watching that one. It was a hell of a deal for the buyer. Folks were being too picky. Honestly speaking most of the items listed were easily fixed but prolly needs a block r&r.

With new wheels, shift ****, a driver seat refinish, and a proper detail that car would be solid.
Will be interesting to see if this is the start of a softening of the market.

Wonderful price for the buyer and terrible price for everyone else who owns an FD.
What put the buyers off?
The mods? They seem like the base case "reliability" mods, which, may, in any event, actually improve the long term ownership experience (aka "trouble free driving").
The seats make the mileage highly suspect . Was it was a mistake not to upgrade for the pictures?
