Gotta give the seller credit..... optimistic-*** ad to go along with those Madmax pictures
"1993 Mazda RX-7 fd LHD 5spd car
Clean title Straight frame No rust No accidents Clean Carfax Texas car
This is the perfect foundation for a very clean build. The rear quarters have over fenders and have been cut so most likely going to remain widebody. All the parts I have are in the photos. The car rolls, steers, and e brake works."
What's crazy is he might actually get asking price. If someone is looking for a project, I don't see any others available, eBay had another one similar a while back for $16k, not sure if it sold though. This would cost $30k+ to restore though, even DIY.
It's sad to see an FD in that condition. Although this may be an extreme case, it says a lot about how we've ended up in the current situation re: supply/demand of decent examples. So many FD's were hacked up and abused similarly over the past 20 years.

It's pretty sad to see honestly. After experiencing ownership over the past couple years, I always wanted to rescue one from such a state for the simple fact it could be potentially cheap[er] to restore and own...like rescuing animals. But there's no way I'd pay that price. As many members have said time after time, it would be cheaper to buy a running driving example.
It is surprising how much the individual value of the remaining parts would add up to.
It's definitely a good car for someone, but that someone probably isn't myself. I'm too much of a perfectionist and being as the interior isn't complete (the first thing I look at, as I can deal with the rest) I'd spend upwards of $60k easily getting this car to where I want. I don't believe that's a bad thing per se, because anything attained in that condition could be built exactly to your personal specifications. However in todays market, that is one hell of a task being that simple parts I need for my current car are NLA.

It won't be cheeper....ask me how I know
But seriously, piecing one of these cars back together has historically been a more expensive task than buying a nice car. As I said in the other thread, these things really nickel and dime you to death, and interior pieces have always been very pricy. Partouts have always been more lucrative than selling cars whole (even decent examples). Look at guys like Fritz and Carter. They partout cars far more than they sell whole cars. It's just more profitable.
That said, I'm happy I was able to bring a car that should have been parted out and scrapped back to the road. I do feel a bit of accomplishment for doing it that way.....but MAN did it hurt my wallet over the long haul. Though, I really couldn't have afforded an FD if I wasn't able to spread the costs over the 6 or so years it's taken me.
Not often a white FD pops up, looks like last one on BaT was April 2020. Sold for $43.7k.
thinking this has a good shot to go north of 50k. It does show some corrosion.. we'll see.
Crazy bidding on that FD that was just posted on BaT. It is already up to $50k and has only been up for 30 minutes, and that is with three bidders going back and forth. Chaste White has always been popular amongst enthusiasts but is also rare, it appears we are seeing pent-up demand for a Chaste White FD.

I don't think the demand is pent up. I'd argue that just before the market boom, a CW hardtop w/black interior was actually the most valuable trim on the market (even moreso than a CYM). I believe during the last year, CYM has retaken the top spot. I'd imagine this will go for very close or even to CYM money in today's market.
Wow - strong money for a 56K mile example. It's very interesting the demand for white, as the same thing holds true for demand for white examples in the series 8 in both Japan and Australia. The later ones were Pure White, not Chaste White, but the FD looks fantastic in both. The international sales record is currently held by a white Spirit R and they were the 2nd most popular colour after Titanium Grey (which had the advantage of being a new, exclusive colour).
Just goes to show some people don't really know what they are buying on BAT and just have money to spend.
The buyer of this posted in the white FD auction asking why FDs are typically worth more than the rx8 and what the differences are. Hilarious. How can you spend that much on an rx8 and not know about RX cars in general (especially the FD).
I don't care what special edition this is or how low miles, $42k is crazy. Uneducated buyers abound.... But hey, maybe this means $100k FDs are coming sooner rather than later.
