How to value your FD

I tried to list my modified FD with BAT a few week back. They rejected it stating that they only want stock cars going forwards.
Based on the interest in David’s car on EBAY; that’s where I’m going to list mine soon. Not that I expect to get as much interest as that 4 rotor monster!

I really am surprised at the bidding for this car. (With the caveat that a bid does not equal to a sale on eBay - many eBay car sales fall through because the winning bidder does not come through with the funds.)
I can't see a specialist FD shop buying it because they did not build it so I am not sure what the point would be. I can't see a race team buying it because, again, they did not build it - and what series would it race in? And I can't see even a wealthy enthusiast buying it because it is not really drivable on the street.
It's essentially a *****-to-the-wall, this-one-goes-to-11 fever dream. Nice to see it being done - but what would you do with this car after buying it?

I am preparing to relocate to a remote location (think multiple ferry crossings and/or long gravel roads). This FD is completely unsuitable for that lifestyle.
If you know anyone that’s interested in the car send them my direction!

I thought this one would fly under the radar however it sold for $31,500 + 10%-15% buyer fee. The company auctioning it mentioned the car had hail damage on the roof and hood.

The 99 spec rears aren't really even 99 specific since they ran those tails as of 96 for their RZ version. They just became the next step up when they did decide to do a final update on the 99 spec cars. :-)
I'll stick with my original bumper but I did go with the 99spec front spoiler. It completes the look..

Little lip on bib bumper.
I am getting a new front bumper and rebar as some a-hole in a S15 inexplicably turned cross-wise in front of me on a straight.
While waiting for the bodyshop, I have installed an original base lip (not perfect alignment btw).
I sort of like the lip-less look. Also at 140 kmph of the freeway, the car seems actually more stable. Perhaps less buffeting than the big lip?
I needed a daytime running light solution for Canadian regulations. I found the S8 rebar has a nice open spot to mount S6 fogs, which I use as DRL.
I am continually wondering what cars of my childhood influence my love of the FD. Bugeye sprite came to mind last night.

The classic front engine rear drive designs of the Jag E type or even the Ferrari 250 GTO come to mind whenever I saw the FD.

Was 99 more than 23 years ago? Almost ready for collector plates?
I was discussing global warming with Angela Merkel in the same dream, so who knows. I had a great solution, but I cant remember what is was.
My suspension rebuild might have helped with the feeling of stability at speed.
BTW local kid picked up a '93 SSM LHD for C$38,000 here recently. 150,000km unit long term owner.
Another Kid sold his 99 RHD with twice rebuilt motor and maybe 360 hp of mods for C$34,000 from $38,000 asking. A very nice looking car with some top end period body kit (read: mazdaspeed).
(Kid = Adult less than 30)

Porsche and some other companies have been working on synthetic gas and I hope it will provide a future for the few of us who would like to keep driving our ICE-mobiles.

Yep, FD's are up there now. They have nowhere else to go but up. Especially those that haven't been molested entirely.
(completely agree with you regarding the Kid equation.. lol )

I don't think we'll have a problem running our cars. At least not while we're alive. Fuel isn't going away at least for another 3-4 decades. I'll be very much gone from this Earth before it starts to become an issue. After I'm gone, the museum I'm leaving the car too can keep up with the maintenance..
