^Same here, and that's part of the reason why I ended up picking up a modified single turbo build instead of a pristine unmolested stock FD. Back in 2015 or so, I had an opportunity to pick up a low miles and completely stock '93 touring (< 20K miles, manual, silver w/black interior) for less than $20K. Of course I'm kind of kicking myself now for passing on it, because if I was the collector type, I could have more than doubled my investment flipping it now. The reason I passed is because I would have been afraid to enjoy that car and rack up the miles driving it - knew it wouldn't be possible for me!

Lol no kiding. I was fortunate enough to get mine recently in the high teens(needs some work, but even then). I've been looking for quite some time, and the lowest I've seen one lately was $24k.

There is currently a VR '93 Touring on BaT right now already at $35k with 5 days left. Car has 41k miles and looks to be in good shape. Tan interior, not much comment activity.

Totally. For a long time the wider market didn't even know about R1/R2 models, let alone put a premium on them, and that seems to have continued on BaT. In my eyes though, they're the ones to have.

1st impression on this one is barn find that's really been cleaned up nicely. I suspect it's going to need continued love and support and those interior panels (the panels lead to to the barn find conclusion) are seriously hurtin DP will probably have an exhaust leak at any moment and possibly already has one because of the janky hardware used. I like the choice of coilovers and catback.

I'm blown away with the current market on all used cars at this time. 2 years ago I'd say this would be a 30k FD max and I won't be surprised if it sells for 40k or more.

Great time to sell your house or car if you don't need a house or car LOL.

PS Seriously faded tail lights, which says lots of time sitting somewhere not so pleasant.

Just got the appraisal report back from a local Professional Appraiser. Grade is 3A. Value C$35,000. Car is a 99 RHD Type RB with 154,000 km (but newer motor and younger turbo).

This value is in line with a recent sale of a similar year car which has a new motor and some classic JDM kit. It iwas listed for C$38,000 and sold for C$34,000.

I just paid 38k for my 93 VR R1 tt 5spd black interior w/70k miles pretty much stock besides a few little things. This market is crazy but clean r1’s are so hard to find. I have been looking for a while but had no luck and the price is just going to go up like my supra to where I wouldn’t be able to afford one soon... crazy times we are living in!!!

Congrats!

Yep, I suspect you will be able to sell for at least 40k in 5 years with 100k miles So really not a bad/deal car to drive and enjoy.

hehehe, very true..thank you! I will not be selling, most likely ever. This has been a car I have wanted for to long, and much like my supra it has more sentimental value for my son and I.

CRAZY!

I like the 95 VR that sold this year but I suspect this one was neglected for many years and then received some love and maximum clean-up.

If you look at the listing from when it sold last Sept, there's clearly been some elbow grease applied!

just to add the data point, https://www.ebay.com/itm/31352627745...8AAOSwN1pgm0Ip

FC sales are harder than the FD, the FC is much much more rare now.

Just imagine what a white FD with 5200 miles would sell for, 80k?

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if a white usdm FD with 5200 miles sold for that number.. FCs are awesome in their own right but don't quite have the demand of the FD.

man, if the car only had that much on the clock, it was basically put away and never touched. I’d be worried about all the mechanical bits.
yeah, I don’t see it going for less than 80-100g’s easy

Another thing to consider is inflation. The used car market is up 20% in price fed admits to 4-5% but reality is probably 10-20% given how many dollars were injected this past year.

okay so like imo the prices of fd rn are absurd, i’m a little biased cause i wanted to buy one this year, but i’ve seen multiple listing for 55k for an fd. Correct me if i’m wrong, but could i not just buy a fd roller and 20b swap it for cheaper? why are they so expensive right now, i believe they’re worth caps out at 30k tops nothing above, and that’s for a pristine one. I mean 55k for a 90’s car i could buy almost any brand new 2021 car for that much, maybe i’m the dumb one tho idk
