Amazing. Terrible presentation and no seller interaction and it ends up at $34,000 and RNM. In terms of this thread's original premise seeing this really speaks to how the FD has come up in the world of collector cars. It leads Haggerty's hot values list. And, it has a long way to go yet. I have been very comfortable with the economy and think the value keeps going up strongly for the foreseeable future. Also, from the comments on various auction sites over the past few years, it seems as though more and more people have come to understand that the rotary motor doesn't grenade on a Sunday afternoon drive for no good reason.

Yes, but 26k miles is always going to fetch good money. Poor presentation, yes. However it looked like an extremely clean car. Complete and again, super low mileage. I’m not surprised, in all honesty.

lol I was wondering when I was going to be asked that question. Thinking about it man. Wife gave me the go ahead, but with certain conditions. It may take a few years which may mean I can’t afford one ever. We’ll see.

Interesting, i'd expect this later model with low miles and 2 owners to run up more than 20k.

On the whole I think it looks good too. I think it's the exhaust that hurt it. Hardly a universally loved aesthetic.

Hey Guys...help me VALUE his garage queen find (4 miles from my house).
One owner (meticulous to say the least)
1994 MB PEG package
Totally original (just like it came off showroom floor)...except for new Bridgestones
60,008 miles
Always garaged
No accidents, no mods and no dings
Flawless as I have seen...... exterior / interior / underside
Thanks Jim T

Man, I don't know any more with the supply and market in their current state. $25-30k. Maybe more if the e-mob decides they like it. Car looks a lot cleaner than 60k miles.

I like the sunroof without the Bose. 90's colors are coming back in to style, and Montego Blue is all that and a bag of chips.

Bad mods, weak presentation, underside looked bad for the mileage.

I'd consider it a crime it that went for less than $30k. Plenty will say 60k miles is a lot but a person could look for years before finding an available example like that.

Same here on the mileage...based on my inspection I would have guessed under 20K....take a close look at the diff pic.

Are you sure "60,000" was a typo and it's actually "6,000"? That car is beautiful- are you looking to buy it and make a gentleman's offer or help the owner sell it?

Yes 60,008 miles is correct.....hard to believe but correct
I don't plan to make an offer at this time...if I can resist
Note....on start-up for test drive the windows were up and it was so quiet I had to check tach to confirm it was running.....been a long time since I drove an ALL original FD

Not a spec of surface corrosion on that ABS pump. I bet you could eat off the cruise control bracket...

The battery has never leaked, the car has probably never overheated, and it must have never seen rain (certainly not salt). Thats the cleanest oem cat back I've seen besides NOS. The car screams cream puff. I bet if you open the gas door, it's clean like an operating room.

Clearly great maintenance (lots of replaced parts) but 60k miles is still 60k miles.

It's very hard to put a value on any FD these days. For max value I'd list on BAT with a 25k reserve (could go for 20 or 30 plus/who knows) or unload for 20k to you (feeling grateful my 25 year old car is worth 20) and move on.

PS Just looked at the current listing of cars on the market and there is nothing out there. The values on FDs are about to blow up in 2020/2021.

Montego/tan with 60k miles. It looks really clean but I believe a quick sell would be $22-24k and current actual value around $30k.

Nice to see you posting Fritz - you disappeared there for a minute.

Agreed - nothing decent on the market right now, reminds me of the MKIV market 5 years ago before things got really stupid price wise.

I don’t think Fritz and some others are on FB a whole lot looking. There are still several FDs popping ip
regularly between $15-25k. Most are not nice but there are still a good bit of low price options. 60k miles on original engine we know is a ticking time bomb and mileage is too high to be something a collector is going to want with plenty of low mileage options left. I think the FDs are around peak during this economic run. They will take a hit during our next recession then I believe we will see the real price run during the next recovery. Once again, all speculation as I’m not sure any of us really understand the FD market. Supra market is easier, price it high and people will buy. That hasn’t played out for the fd market. The rare exceptions have been BAT.

YEP

I think we'll see a significant price increase (20 to 30 percent higher) this coming year or the next.

Typical low mileage r1 (under 20 or 30k miles in garaged condition) today is 40 and it might be 50 in 2021 etc... That said I haven't seen an r1 or r2 for sale with less than 30k miles in a while so they could be 50k cars right now?

Again there is nothing out there. Beat up modded cars, higher mileage stock touring models etc... nothing that's really nice or worth much.

.

I don't understand any of the classic car markets. I've been looking at P cars for the last 10 years or so and that's a super crazy market (it's up, it's down it's all around). People want what other people want, the price as always matches the euphoria of desire or demand.

I've seen a few beat up FDs show up here and there on FB etc.... but again nothing worth paying for. A 20k FD today will cost you 40k over the next 5 years if you fix it up and drive it and it will still be a higher mileage POS when it's time for you to sell. Still beats owning a new ugly computerized box rocking 20 inch wheels though

This is an example of the last POS car worth investing in. Bid to 26k and the seller kept it. Hopefully he negotiated something off BAT but I'm selling this particular FD at anything over 20k without hesitation. Crazy market for sure and it's only going to move higher. There are no base models, r cars, low mileage cars.........nothing because owners are keeping (the market is sorted out) and if you want one you'll have to pay for it, for at least the next 5 years. How high it goes is anyone's guess.

The PFS PMC as a highlighted mod to that car made me giggle.
