I say your never to old to do anything you like doing!
If you like the car and can responsibly handle it, then keep driving it until you just CAN'T SEE!

This goes for anything.

Take a clue from pilots.
They can fly as long as they pass their physical and vision exams!

 

I think that's it in a nutshell. He loved tracking the FD but it's high maintenance and carries too much emotional baggage There are plenty of other cars in the world that are a blast to drive around.

The reward was no longer worth the effort in his mind. There's no harm in that. The idiots are the ones who make themselves miserable and don't do anything about it!

 

only limit at the high end is physical and mental capacity, and interest. now if there were a minimum age of 25 required to drive, there would be a lot more FD's still around.

I think Manny was contemplating of selling the beast because someone told 'em he was too old for an FD. Manny, you're never too old for an FD. I'm keeping mine till I can't walk...

 

That's the spirit! I'm nowhere near that point, but that's my plan too. And maybe even till after I can't walk...cuz as long as I can operate the pedals and steering wheel fine, being able to walk isn't a requirement! LOL

 

Maybe more of the 'older' men should be driving FD as it can double as a natural VIAGRA subsitute. Every drive in my car is an exhilirating one!

I've seen 50 year-olds on full-blown sport bikes tearing up the canyons, passing 20-somethings on the inside and going on trips to Vegas with those bikes. Just about any car is a Cadillac in comparison to today's agressive sport bikes. You're too old to drive an RX7 when you are dead, hehe.

I'm 48 and plan to have my 93 for a very long time. I can't see myself without it. All my son's friends tell him I wish my dad was into Rx7s like yours.

It depends on how long you've had the FD. I've had mine for almost 9 years before I sold it last Saturday (Nov 13). That's a LONG TIME. Most folks trade for new cars every four years. I want to read posts from FD owners that have had their cars for at last five years.

Yes it's true. FD is gone. That includes all the spares, logbook, and shop manual. Driving my '94 Saturn SL2 every day. I bought my wife a '97 M3/4-door, so I get to go for a ride with her every now and then. No immediate plans for an FD replacement sports car. I left the suspension forum in good hands with DamonB awhile back. Not to be tooting my own horn, but I've posted so often on the proper FD wheel/tire fitments, that knowledge has now become conventional wisdom on this forum LOL

 

My 5 year anniversary of ownership is coming up on 31st of January 2005. I even took my FD to England for a year. I don't know when I will ever part with this car. And the best part, 6 more car payments to freedom! The day you are too old to own an FD is the day you don't have a huge grin on your face when you drive it. Or when you can't get physically maneuver yourself into the car.

 

ABSOLUTELY man. If there was ONE THING I could change in my dad, it would be that he woulda been into cars. I woulda LOVED to have gone to auto-x and road courses while I was still a kid, learning about car mechanics and turning wrenches. A lotta guys here take that stuff for granted, because it's passed on from father to son. I'm the only person in my family that's done anything more than switch out a radiator lol and I've had to learn it from friends. So needless to say, a dad w/ an RX7 woulda been AWESOME lol.

I am 20. I drive FD. I cant look to future when im older. I live for the now. When the driver has lost the will to fully possess such spirit of FD, that is when the driver will become unworthy of its legend.
