I'd call your local glass people. They come right to your house in the truck and replace the windshield right in front of you.

How do you know you are getting "good" glass? And not some cheesy glass?

Call around to different glass companies, but if you want the thinner lighter windshield, you will have to go thru Mazda.

I just went through this so let me save you a lot of time and hassle. You can't get a gray windshield unless it is through the dealer. (stock is gray). Replacements come in blue tint with a blue strip or brinze tint with a blue strip. The shop will get a gray/gray on their computer but it is unavailable. I had a few appointments and they had to call and say they couldn't get it.

Well I wanted a gray/gray because it is a black car and it looks better plus i like to keep it stock looking. So i went with the dealer. The factory windshield is about 570 as opposed to 200 installed for a relacement. Then to get them swapped is at least 100. And there were no fd windshields in the US so it took mine a month to get here. Either had to be imported or manufactured, i don't know which. So it took a month and cost me 740 to get a new windshield and installation.

So if you will be satisfield with a blue blue or bronze blue replacement windshield which is heavier, it's not too hard, but if you want a factory one it is a real pain and a lot of cash. The whole process from learning i needed a windshield to having it installed took about 2 months as i had to find all this out slowly. Good luck!

i work for diamond auto glass in new jersey ..... anyway insurance covers a factory windsheild ...actually for most insurance jobs all we install are oem windsheilds . think about it if your going through insurance ..you probably wouldnt be too happy if you found out you had an aftermarket put in . for the most part aftermarket windsheilds are identical to factory windsheilds , but like what was stated previously sometimes the tint may not be the same ... anyway if anyone in new jersey needs auto glass let me know i go to you and i dont do hack work like many people in this industry . if anyone has any auto glass questions feel free to contact me and ask away .
