Post Some Pics of your FD! :D <- Pics of your car go in this thread!!
Every once in a while we take stock of where we all are and where our cars are going. Tom and Dan like modified cars, but like tastefully modified cars and they can present you with their standards. Some people like truly stock cars, though that may include mixing and matching bumpers and wings and such. Some people like single turbos, some like sequential twins, and some like parallel twins. Some like 20b's NA and some turbo. Some like LSx powerplants.
The thing is that we are a very diverse group of owners and there are cliques within the group who really like whatever they really like. Others may really dislike certain things that others do to their cars. How do we want to behave toward each other and our cars? I believe that anyone posting here should expect honest responses from everyone else, but that doesn't mean anyone should insult anyone else either. I think when I have an issue with something someone's done, I either say nothing or try to provide constructive criticism. That means I try to objectify the issue I have and discuss how it might be changed in my opinion. A lot of others do something like this, I know, as well. Sometimes I really just don't like something, but have nothing constructive to say or that I want to say, so, I say nothing at all.
Civility and refinement have somewhat gone the way of pride and shame, but there's always hope of a resurgence of interest in these arcane notions. We accept drag cars, road racers, drifting cars, body-kitted cars, and would probably accept low riders with hydraulics if anyone wanted to try it. We may not all accept all of these equally or even genuinely, but we tend to be reasonably open-minded about variations on the FD.
I have a very peculiar philosophy that the original car was the best design possible and that the shape should be retained, though perhaps enhanced with quality design details. I thought the problems with the car were budgetary only, so I remade my car using leather, metal, and wool to replace vinyl, plastic, and polyester, and added a 20b NA for reliable rotary power. However, that means that photographs of my car here will look pretty much like any other nice stock-ish FD.
I think there may have been a shift of interest in the way the majority of people want their cars to be over the past few years and I think that shift has been more toward what I'd call "enhanced stock". It seems like a lot of the nicer cars I've seen recently are going this way.
End of ramble.

Skirts are made by Panspeed (along with the front and rear fenders)
18x9 +20 all round. Seem to fit spot on with the rear over-fenders (which are +25), though we had to trim the lip somewhat to prevent rubbing. The front may need a spacer just to get the wheels to sit flush, but it's hard to tell from the photos, so will wait till it arrives to make that decision. Tyres are 245/40's.

apparently everyone is missing scrub's & my points:
he's not complaining about modified cars (aftermarket body work). he's complaining about people that distastefully modify their cars, or do things to harm the performance of the car, two things that i can agree with.
how are you people missing this point? i think his, and my own, complaints are with people that are modifying their cars for the sake of modifying them, instead of modifying them with purpose or a plan.
as someone who has a car with a modified body (front end, sides, diffuser, spoiler, hood...) i can say that i spent a lot of time figuring out what specific exterior pieces would work well together. i didn't buy random parts that looked cool on their own - i picked pieces that maintained "lines".
unfortunately, some of the cars posted recently do not have the aesthetic "lines" as i was mentioning, and clearly have modifications that harm performance (e.g. stance that causes the fenders to peel off the tire sidewall...) - these are the things we are criticizing.
this has nothing to do with being stock or modified, similar or unique - our grips are with tasteless clashing body work and performance harming modifications.
examples:
FACTORY LINES:

TASTEFULLY MODIFIED LINES (GOOD!
):

DISTASTEFULLY MODIFIED LINES (BAD!
):

so stop complaining and take some advise.

just because you make a diagram doesn't mean its correct... thats only a depiction of your opinion...just as this is one of mine.
Yea but your lines are off. Why are you using the photoshopped pic for your lines anyway?
The bodykit of the two tone fd3s is the original widebody from Chargespeed. It is a kit that keep EXACTLY the lines of the car and especially the rear fenders
.OK if you do not like the color, but the kit is awesome.I do not judge the taste of the color, i don't like it either, but do not tell anything about aerodynamic, lines of the car etc etc,The first guy that ruin's the lines of fd3s is Amemiya himself . Check all the widebodies that have made and tell!!! Although he is a guru for Mazdas!!!!!!!
Nobody of you ever argued with him about his taste..

nice try anyway. (FAIL)
Hopefully ill have some non cell phone pics soon, just havent found the time.
Ohh, and as for tire size, the front is 235, and the rear I cant recall at the moment, I had a set of new nittos sitting in the garage that I decided to put on. Ended up working really well.

This is an Australian delivered car, the Aussie models come standard with this rear bar. I personally like the other bumper better (with out the lights).
thats my friends old skyline. i was driving behind you in regina on victoria ave when you were towing it through.
