Wow, I just went back and read the entire thread that you posted, and I'm going to have to give in here. I guess it must be a lot of fun to brag about cars you pretend to own (your parents -may- own them) and talk in gibberish, because those two managed to do it for 3 pages in a single thread.

Maybe the mods could just create a new "Post your STUPID CRAP here" section, and lock the offenders in there? They'd probably never notice that they couldn't get to any other sections.

The best way to prevent dumb questions from being asked is to require newbies to attend a Mazda Rotary College for a period of five years, and after that time has elapsed they will be permitted one question.

agreed

aside from my agreement, i just think the forum needs to be mindful of becoming a bunch of elistist...yes, its stupid that some questions are asked over and over, but lets not be so harsh when it comes down to posting on what some of us deem as "stupid threads",
remember we've all been excited at one point or another when we first got a 7

There was a thread on www.Anti-rice.com that allowed people to E-fight and slug it out on there so that they can keep it out of the other threads........... just a thought since it seems to work for them.

Kinda like "Gentlemen, take ur issues outside, please."

Encouragement

I just wanted to post and say that some 'newbies' actually do take to heart all the comments.

I've created a grand total of one thread in my 6 months of lurking and my 4-5 months of membership and that was to sell something. This will be the third thread I've ever posted in and the only other one was in the lounge, heaven forbid.

Is my lack of posting due to the fact I've never had a {problem with/question about} my 7? Of course not! It's because at this point even with the newest version of the car almost every problem has been rehashed once or twice and I can usually find what I need via a search. Anything I need personal help with I go to people I know on another forum where they know me and my car. Insert shameless plug here

So from all the people who don't post, we salute the intelligent ones who have, and do.

Oh yeah, if anyone cares I'm all for alot more moderation. That's how I keep my own forums under control.

Well maybe, it's time for some new moderators... No offense to anyone in particular...

On the first page of the 3rd gen. Specific forum, I found the following threads:

ya! Dealing with the important topic of hood rats posing with cars... off to the ******* lounge.

new svt cobra Hello. General automotive?

Poll: 99 spec lip spoiler or R1 lip spoiler? Interior/Exterior/Audio

what is a good price to pay for.... Might be a 3rd gen. question, but it's been answered a MILLION times, and it's definitely not tech related.

is it possible to fine a 3rd gen rx-7 for $60000 He meant $6,000. Apparently he's shopping for the cheapest salvage title burn victim FD he can find so he can join the club.

Moving to LA - to buy, or not to buy, that is the question Lounge material. Mentions an FD, but he's got $13,000 to spend and wants a <35,000 mile engine. He ought to talk to Mr. $6k above.

RX7 vs. M3 General automotive. Why is this so difficult for people to understand?

Photoshop modding Yet another bored member with too much time on his hands. Lounge.

drift wing, where to get Interior/Exterior/Big ******* Wing forum.

Anyone going to SEMA? Sorry Crashunit, but this one belongs in the Lounge also.

Lot of FD Accidents this Weekend....Like Mine If he were asking for advice on fixing it, that's one thing... yet another party in need of some attention. Lounge.

Seriously. I probably seem harsh in some cases, but the 3rd gen. forum has become the catch-all for all kinds of **** that doesn't even remotely belong. Someone needs to clean the damn thing up and explain to these people why their posts are inappropriate, and move them to the proper areas. It'll take awhile, but eventually people will get the hint. Maybe the descriptions of the forums needs to be more specific and spell out what is expected (and what is not).

Also, people apparently need some lessons in writing a post. What the **** is "Ya!"? People need to learn to be more descriptive in the titles of their threads, and quit posting ambiguous and/or misleading topics. If you've got a problem with your goddamn MAP sensor, say so. Don't post a thread titled "Can anybody help?" or some silly **** like that. Apparently people aren't aware that they'll have a better chance of having their questions answered if they let people know what's going on without having to open the thread and dig through their post to figure out what's going wrong.

THAT'S why people don't get their questions answered. Be clear. Be concise. Be accurate, and be descriptive in your post's title. Is that too much to ask???

Personally I think Jim would make a great moderator. He would terminate offenders with extreme prejudice.

Actually, I don't think people need to be cut off at the knees, they just need someone keep an eye on them.

Step one is to decide whether or not this is really a tech-only forum. If it is, then what constitutes an acceptable post is clear. If it's just a catch-all for *anything* 3rd gen. then no one has any room to bitch, myself included.

Step two is to designate moderator(s) to keep the area clean. I know that rxrotary2_7 has been doing more in this area lately, but it's not a one-person job. It takes three mods in the Advanced Tech section on CamaroZ28.com because you have to have decent coverage. One person can't police that area of the forum 24-7, so you need to have more people pitching in.

Step three, you need consistency. If one mod moves some types of posts and the others don't, people are going to complain about the one that does. Equal treatment, for everyone, with justification for why action was taken.

Of course what all this really boils down to is... common sense.

Keep an eye on... knock some sense into... it's all the same to me. In all seriousness I agree with you 100% Jim. Things have been out of hand for quite some time, and it just takes a little vigilance to maintain order.

Maybe we should have a veteran's forum that is selective about who can have access. I know that it will raise the cry of favoritism and being exclusionary but I have had it also. I am not by any means a rotory master but I have had my car for five years now and I've been on this forum for several also. I have seen the steady increase of members and the drastic decrease of legitimate and worthwhile posts. The generation specific sections used to be a good place to ask questions and share findings about the cars, but it seems now every post is the same as the twelve that were asked yesterday, and no one is giving any worthwhile advice.
I ask a question about a tuning problem and I get one or two maybe good responses and some "I heard" crap then it gets buried fast by "what body kit?" or "biggest wheels" or "where do I buy the loudest BOV" . There is very little useful information anymore and it seems many of the folks who used to help out have given up.
I know I don't read many of the posts anymore and I rarely post anything new because it does nothing.
I think the forum is still a great place but it seems that is being taken over by ,well, newbies and people that just want to start an argument. Now I think newbies are welcome of course but I get tired of being buried under a ton of the same body kit and no boost questions time and time and time again.
Perhaps we could have an exclusive forum that members have to be voted into or have a specific number of months on the forum or something that the people who actually want to talk about a car can go to and get real advice and post real information.

hey, i agree. hell, i am the one who brought it up in this thread. i have not seen you around much. i dont see many of the older members around anymore. so many damn new names....with not much to say. *sigh*
maybe you guys should continue to PM the administrators about doing something like this. one person can not hold down this section, and one person can not convince them to change anything.
let your voice be heard.
