Is It Worth It?

Ok, My engine is open and being rebuilt as we speak, I have an option of porting it or not, what would be the approximate horspepower gain with a large streetport.(other mods inlcude hks ssqv bov, ported wastegate, banzai tid, turbo back rb exhaust, hks pfc fcon, fcd, and profec b spec on the way)

Is teh large streetport worth it? How much will my gains be?

i thinks its like 25% for a large streetport, i would get it ported jus because your engine is already apart...

if your engine is apart, DO IT! Power gains are fairly substaintial and you get better gas mileage. You will regret it later if you don't.

25% is 25%, it's a ratio. So (I'm not saying the 25% or any of my numbers are correct) if you have 100hp to the wheels and 200hp to the flywheel, you'll have 125hp to the wheels AND 250 to the flywheel. Both which are 25% increases.

How much is the port job going to cost you and what are the disadvantages?

Absoultely!! Racing Beat used to claim their porting added 20% more horsepower. You'll lose a little on the low end but have a MUUUCCH stronger mid-range and top end.

The porting is going to cost $200 and the guy knows what he's doing, which is a relief. Im definitely going for it.

Wise choice. Let me put this in perspective. My old car:
mildly upgraded stock turbo, stock IC aggressive SP. Dyno resluts: 290RWHP at 12PSI. The most I've ever heard for a stock port motor at that same boost......
251RWHP.

Nuff' Said!

I haven't done alot of research myself, but I do remember reading in a couple of places that you will lose ~5mpg of gas milage after street porting. This was in relation to FDs though, but I can't imaging it would be alot different for the FC.
