Exclamation Wont Shift....

hey guys,

my car barely shifts into gear when i'm stopped at a light and such but shifts perfectly normal when i'm driving, but when i'm stopped i have to force it into gear, but here's the weird part, if i attempt to go into the gear once normally, back off then go to put it into the gear again it goes in no problem....

whats going on?, i was thinking mabe my clutch ( hydraulic ) fluid was low?...

I would fill the clutch up with brake fluid and bleed it out if needed. If it is low, it has been leaking. Find your leak in the master cylinder/slave cylinder and replace the worn parts.

ITs a start.. Mine wont shift very well but its a clutch fork. It all depends on what your symptoms are.. Is your master cyl low?

no idea, i dont even know what to check....

when it comes to brake/clutch systems i know almost nothing....

i wouldnt suspect a clutch fork to be the problem, but it's had this issue since i got it back from the mechanics, and it's an on-and-off problem....

check tranny fluid. any noise when shifting? does it do it the same in every gear? sounds like bad synchro to me. if it was the clutch not fully releasing you would feel it try to pull some with the clutch in.

Synchs are going bad and forks are wearing...too many fouled shifts and poor maintanance. Having to cram it into gear to begin with is because things aren't lining up propperly anymore...after you force it into gear the forks align semi-propperly from the action which is why it's easy to put in and out afterward.

You'll either have to get a new tranny or have that one rebuilt.

The clutch master cylinder is under your hood, in the back driver-side corner. Make sure its topped off with brake fluid. Also check the slave cylinder for leaks its located on the tranny.

pedel feels fine, not sure about the synchro's though, doesent make sence to me every time someone mentions them....

it's perfectly normal, except when i'm in neutral and go to put it into gear, sometimes it's fine, sometimes it's not....

i'll go to put it into gear, wont go, try once more and goes normally....

i cant compare how it feels when i shift gears to a stock 7 but it feels.... normal...?

but the way i see it, it feels a little stiff....

yea when i put the clutch all the way down i hear rattling...my clutch fluid was low and i suspect a leak...so i was gunna hit up some braided lines to replace that...i toped the fluid off and i get a wonderfully stiff clutchpedal(mazdaspeed pressureplate RB street/strip) BUT that rattling is very odd....(hope i dont post hyjack just seems like a fitting time to ask this question)

and ill concur ONCE in a blue moon...it wont let me get into gear...like ONCE IN A BLUE MOON i was guessing an airbubble in the fluid would occasionally cause this issue and all i need to do is bleed and refill it? unless its sumthing alittle more complex...?

archangles...

flush your tranny fluid

at a light when you can't get it in gear

1. selector to neutral
2. foot off the clutch pedal
3. rev the engine very slightly
4. try to put it in 1st
5. repeat as necessary

Your issue is a pressure plate and possibly the fork also.

If you continue to drive under these conditions your plate will brake and you won't be able to get it in gear with the engine running

answer this: if you are in gear, and push in the clutch, does it release all the way (ie, no pull on the car at all, correct idle speed)

if it does, then there is NOTHING wrong with the clutch, and you need to rebuild the tranny
if it doesnt realease 100%, then one of the problems above is it, and you need to mess with the clutch and fiigure out which one it is.

as long as it releases fully, then the clutch cant be causing hard shifts, because its only function is to release. if it does that, then the problem has to be elsewhere. if i were you, id just drive it till it gets undrivable or the tranny goes, then get a jspec tranny.

most of the problem was.... get this....

my slave cylinder was held on by 1bolt i believe he said.... it was missing a bolt or.... 2 mabe....

now my pedel is stiffer and shifts better.... but it still takes 2tries to get it into gear, but it's not hard to get it into gear....
