It won't die!!! I am still on a "perfect pre-mix" ratio quest...What I've found is somewhat of a catch-22 situation...Like Santiago said above, the more you use, the better gas mileage you get (within reason, of course). I've proved this to myself, too...However, when the ratio gets below about 90:1, some of the gas/ premix mixture does not get combusted, and winds up adding to our oil supply, even with brand-spanking new rotor oil control rings (although not new side housings)...I am at about 96:1 right now, this seems to be the "happy medium" spot...If you can handle changing the oil every 2,000 miles or so to take care of the blowby, you can go 80:1 to 85:1- that's about the point where the excessive mileage really kicks in...(BTW- this is no OMP, premix only)...

 

Yeah I looked at my FC's exhaust ports and they looked to be burning nicely. Kinda light brown. Too bad I had to meet a FORD(******* old retarded dimwit!) driving an F-100

i didnt read this full thread but with running premix does it do anything to ur gas filter? when i get another rx7 i may just run pre mix.... im not 100% sure tho.... i wonder what is really better

 

if your pre-mixing you change the oil the same as if you weren't. The only thing that is changed is oil consumption what would normally occur through the MOP is now gone so you don't have to top off anymore.

 

hmm im not sure about the perfect ratio myself either. most of the time its 1 oz per gallon, but sometimes itll be as much as 16 oz for only ten gallons. the car doesnt smoke, and the the oil didnt smell like gas the last 2 times i changed it so i dont think blowby is an issue. i may be wrong tho.

 

Yeh my "blowby", as we call it, is getting much better as the rebuild is breaking in (2000 miles now), I think I'm going to go back to about an 85:1 ratio now, it trips me out how much better the gas mileage is by just adding another 1/4 once per gal above the standard 1.28 per gal (100:1). I'm already getting close to 28 mpg now with the rebuild getting stronger, I'm shooting for 30

 

yeah i havent actualy noticed that muthc of a millage gain, but i dont keep track very well, nor do i have a regular enough driving patern to realy determine milage changes. i just keep 16oz bottles in the crgo bin and but as mutch gas as i have cash for at the time. lol. i havent noticed any problems running the high ratios, but there comes a point where the cost of the premix will negate any gains in milage since it is more expensive than gas by volume.

 

Normally, I drive almost exactly 200 miles between fillups, so I can track mine very accurately. The mileage increases really kicked in at the 80:1 to 85:1 ratios, but that was before the rebuild, and I was getting a hell of a lot of "extra oil" & gas into the lubrication system (she was "adding" about a quart every 2,000 miles)...That's a funky feeling, an rx-7 actually adding oil, lol....I'm gonna kick it down to those ratios again now and see what happens...

 

Hey how do u guys get the premix into the tank? The castrol TCW-3 stuff i use only comes in these little 500 ml bottles with NO NECK!! I gotta use a funnel and its a pain in the ***!

Every once in a while I'll throw in 6 ounces of MMO. Mmm... peppermint exhaust.

 

i had this same proble too, until i found the wall-mart brand (super-tech IIRC) 16oz bottles of tcw3 it has a offset neck that makes it ALOT easier to poor. with a little skill you can do it and not even need a rag to wipe anything up. a techron bottle or an mmo bottle would work well, but i could never get tha caps to seal reliably.

 

Haha ya i've learned that already. But i'd rather just be able to dump a bottle in there and get the pump ready....

I use STP bottles to pour the oil in, and carry a gallon of 2-stroke oil behind the passenger's seat. I fill the STP bottles with a funnel, put the cap on tightly, and store them in one of the storage bins. To put it in the tank, just open, insert, wait. You can squeeze the bottle a it to speed it up, but if you go too fast, you're cleaning oil off the side of your car.

I wonder if "I was just mixing the 2-stroke oil in my gas tank" is a valid excuse for getting pulled over after pealing out of a gas station...

i just bought some bolts to block off my injector holes. the size is 10x1.25 and 20 mm works for the lower injectors on the intake manifold. and the other ones are quite a bit shorter so you will probably have to cut and grind some down like i did.

and i need to make an omp plate as well
