MPG after going to Pre-Mix

My mileage after going to pre-mix went up.

MPG before Pre-mix 280 miles to a full tank filling up after the light comes on.

MPG after pre-mix same thing as above. 315 miles to a tank.

does pre-mix just yield better compression or something? Is that why it goes up?

Probably doesnt outweigh the price of the premix though. I might change over to premix though sometime soon.

What ratio are you using when you figured that? For street driven vehicle, 200:1 is acceptable. Closer to constant high RPM's and racing, 128:1 is the target.

I put in 16 OZ into every fill up. the pre-mix is about 1.60 a quart. Given that i only use half of that for a fill up and i get an extra 35 miles that is about a gallon and a half rounding down. a gallon of gas(regular) is 1.45. I am saving cash. THe Pre-mix is Coastal and is TCW-3 so it is the good stuff.

I've found 16oz per fillup to be to liberal. My s.s tips would become tinted overtime with a brown resin. This was probably contributed to zero cats aswell.

Since than, I've changed to 12oz per fillup and have to admit a lesser build up around the tips.

As side from using Valvoline's Multi Use 2 Stroke Oil (WT-C3), I know I running rich too. I've had my S-AFC for half a year now under default. I'm still waiting to finish the Ram Air Intake I spoke awhile back about. From there, It's dyno time!

I can give you stats for OMP, OMP and premix and this summer I'll be recording just premix. I'll have to calc the first two stats before I can post them, though. I keep a fuel log.

I too actually noticed a slight increase in fuel efficiency when I went to premix (no OMP of course).
People driving behind me love the smell to.

premix with omp?

Is it bad to use premix while still using my omp? I've been using it for two week and I've notice better idle and an overall nicer ride. 87' TII with 7,578 mile on a mazda reman. engine, stock.

No it is just like insurance incase your OMP is not operating properly. i would take that thing off and feel a lot better though.

From 280 to 315 miles to a tank is an excellent improvement.

I agree that the plugs are probably working better. Don't forget that the oil is design for that type of lubrication and is working better than burning motor oil.

Another thing to consider is that the engine is running 1% leaner because the oil is taking place of the gas exiting the fuel injector.

Racingbeat mentions that oil ratio chosen should reference actual power output. T2's need more oil than NA's. But, I prefer to lean toward a safer 128:1 vs 164-312:1 for my NA.

Another thing to consider is to monitor actual engine oil consumption prior to removing OMP/MOP. Driving style(abuse) should be considered when choosing a ratio.

I only have seen smoke twice out of my car. BOth were after redlining first gear. I am still running a bit rich though. I never see smoke out the mufflers normaly. it runs like it always did but with a better idle and more miles to the tank.
