What the hell....

I thought I fixed my water leak today. I filled the radiator with a coolant sealer then filled it all the way up with coolant as the directions said. I drive around for a while & its nice & cool. I drive somewhere & on the way there my battery starts running low. Like up, down, up down. Very weird. I come home and open my hood & the radiator liquid is boiling. My engine is steaming. What the hell. The gauge was only like 1/4 from the bottom. Maybe to 1/3 at some point. What is wrong with my damn car. Can't seem to get ahead. ****.

No its not boiling out of the cap. I had a leak I thought I fixed but apparently not. Seems only to be getting worse. Only upside to the leak is that its not internal. How does this sound, its my theory on my car BS right now:

The car ran hot and made my belt expand. The belt was bigger so wasn't catching on the alternator pulley. This made the alternator not work up to par & drained my battery. The reason I say that is because the pulleys/belt was making a weird sound thats not usual & also smelling funny. How does that sound? I dunno if its right, just my explanation for now.

i was going to mention your alternator belt but you didnt mention it squeaking. that is a probable cause though. i mean coolant is slippery, maybe some got on their and it was just spinning and the belt was just sitting there

type for a upgrade

Maybe check your water pump bearings and replace your thermostat....

How do you check you water pump seals? My dad thought it could be the water pump is bad. I really really need to find out ASAP. This is my daily driver. I am going to attempt to fix it before work tomorrow. I have to be at work by 10 so I need some suggestions tonight. Thanks.

Check around your water pump for a leak or anything #1

If there is no leak, take off the belt driving the water pump and try hand-turning the water pump, it should be realativly easy, if there feels like an unnatural resitance or grinding then you probably need a new water pump.

I haven't checked lately but I think your alternator and water pump are on the same belt??? If so if the alternator is wearing out then that could cause the water pump to malfunction, or if the water pump is seizing up then that could cause the alternator to not produce proper voltage and could cause your belt to be streched and would come off or have the chance to come off...

Just my figuring...I would go out to my car and get you some more details, but it is in the shop getting it's clutch and diff worked on...stupid guys from califonia sent me the wrong damn pressure plate and I need to wait another friggin 10 days ARRRG.

I am going to check the water pump tomorrow. I know where the leak is just need to fix it. I am very concerned about the battery going dead. Don't see why thats happening but I know it is the belt. Thats why when I gave it gas the belt slipped more & the charge went down. Prolly need a new belt now. So just need to find this leak, how much do new water pumps run anyways?

$160 us - bullshit - changed my pump about 6 months ago - $56C should be about $30 us! - not a simple job - worst part is getting off fan and shroud and then bottom pulley can be a real bitch to get past the crankshaft pulley, but is does work with a lot of cursing and working around.

or a rebuilt one for $45. Replace your thermostat while youre at it. And now is not the time to go cheap on the thermostat. None of the aftermarket ones work even close to as well as the factory Mazda one.
