Cool What gauges to buy for the dash?

Hey guys, I want to buy some gauges for the inside of my FC ie: Pillar mount or center panel mount. What gauges do you guys feel are the most important to have? oil Temp? Electrical? Temp? A/F mix, or boost? and are they easy to install?

You already have oil pressure.

Imo, most important is boost and air fuel mixture. Water and oil temp come second.

Can someone explain a boost gauge to me. How does it install on a TII FC?

you 'T' a silicon hose to the hose on the BOV and the other end to the back of the gauge. VOILA

I think boost is very important. Would also consider dual EGT gauge or some type of AFR.

Stock water temp and oil pres seem to work for me.

The stock water temp gauge is actually more of an idiot light than a full sweep gauge...it doesn't really respond to temp variations till it's too late.

The stock pressure sending unit is getting long in the tooth by now (unless it's been recently replaced) and cannot be trusted.
Mine shows between @10psi at idle up to about 50 or so while my new pressure gauge reads about 30psi at idle and 80 or so under load...quite a difference.

The stock gauges are a joke and not to be trusted.

In order of importance, you should get a coolant temp gauge, oil temp and pressure gauges, a/f meter, and boost gauge. Once you start modding it you should invest in a wideband and EGT gauges as well.

I see what you mean. It isn't very good for acuracy sake, once you know where your actual oil pres is, the stocker can give you serve as a basic "yeah its fine' or ' oh ****"

Exactly.
The stock gauges are very viewable (my aftermarket gauges are down under the Logicon thus, not in line of sight) and now that I know the correlation between them I can rest easier and only glance occasionally down.

I was planning on getting the following:
coolant temp
oil temp
oil pressure
boost
AFM w/ wideband
EGT

I was looking at the Greddy v2, they look close to stock. I pefer electronic, you dont have to worry about a mess.

Sideways7 is right on. My stock oil pressure gauge had been reading low, like 10 psi @ idle, I replaced it with a new gauge, now reads around 30.

Any suggestions on a wideband? All I am seeing lately are AEM UEGO and the LC-1... or something like that.

I've never seen a set of these installed in an FC, but these are a good option for all of your Temp Gauges. They even come in red to match the stock interior lighting too!
