Water Pump with Rust in It

So I buy this water pump from someone on the forums (N326, aka, S4 NA) and it arrived full of rust. This wasn't just someone on the forums though, this was a company.

To clarify, itwas not just a little full of rust, but filled to the point of when I took off the cast iron pump cover, rust dust poured out.. God damn it. Can't people check their products before they ship them? I'm going to ask about it, see what I can get (refund, replacement, etc) before I post the name here.

Or would you guys suggest cleaning it out, and seeing if it seals..

The problem is, I don't want to have to waste my gaskets on a broken leaking pump.

I'll tell ya how it works out.

My camera Battery died :[

I'll see if I can upload anything from my phone in a few minutes.

The company was Apex Auto Parts. I told RX7Addict and he said I can return it for a full refund, but that rust was just a product of water + metal + time. I was thinking wtf.. this doesn't excuse the fact that RUST just poured out of the water pump I just bought from you..

It's still a car, dude. People make everything or at least refurbish it. You use Harbor Freight tools, but not RockAuto? For shame.

You can buy replacement parts at your local auto parts store. Kragen, Napa, Autozone...take your pic. I think my waterpump cost me $40.

So It looks like that is the housing. Now you can get a new (rebuild) pump at napa, kragen, etc. You can not get the housing anywhere other then a dealer or Mazdatrix etc.

Which part exactly where you needing? If you really need the housing it should clean up really well. As long as the machined part is is in good shape and your gasket seals. Its alluminum so it can't rust. If you need the pump, just return the whole thing and get a remaned at your local autoparts.

Here's that water pump I got from Apex Auto Parts

and here's what I should have bought in the first place:

Here are all of my waterpumps. The way left one is the brand new, the middle is the one I bought from Apex auto parts, and the right one is the original. Note, the water pump from Apex auto parts came leaking. Go figure.

Wow. Trash that piece of ****! Unless it was explicitly stated that the item was sold as-is, you deserve to get your money back.
