Wastegate Porting

How do you port the waste gate? Is this something you can do at home or send away?

I believe the 89 up turbos don't need to be ported since they have two passages stock. I ported my 87 TII and it was no problem. I made the hole the size of the stock disc seal, back cut it alot and made a new disc seal out of an exhaust valve; although I have heard it doesn't matter if it seals well. I still run 7-10lbs boost w/ TID mod, downpipe, midpipe and stock cat back. The TID mod really brought the boost back up after the wastegate port w/ out needing a boost controller.

The 89+ WG's are better, but you should port the 89+ if you have it off.

A TID mod and a down/mid pipe can lead to hellacious boost creep (11+psi) even with stock catback. That's even on a 88 motor that in theory might be moving a CH less air than a 89+ turbonium motor.

Will, I have a manifold that has been ported. If you want to try it out, you can!
