Reverse light

Hey guys, I am trying to wire a switch that will allow me to turn the reverse light on even when i am driving. I got a question about the wiring. If I remember right, the reverse light sensor is in the tranny, with 2 wires coming out of it. One postitive and one negative. I am wondering how the light lights up. Does the switch create a ground that will allow the light to light up. If I do tap a switch into it. Do I tap one side of my switch to the positive wire and the other of the switch to the negative wire

wouldnt you just need top provide power to the positive assuming its all powered by the same thing (battery)
if its 12v it shouldnt be a problem id think. Wire the positive to a positive where you are rigging it, and a negative to the positive of the light
im not sure about this. So wait for someone to confirm or deny my theory on going about this

the easiest way is if you have a rear defroster. just pull out the wire on one side of the defroster, and add a wire to that. then run the wire down to the taillights and use a tap-in connector to splice into your reverse light power wire. then when you want to turn it on, just hit the rear defroster switch.

pretty common to have the switch contacts get dirty... either replace the switch or add a relay and have the factory switch drive the relay (and then the relay drive the back up lights).

On the transmission, there is a plug that commonly comes loose that signals for the reverse lights to come on.. I think it's the problem with mine, i just haven't had a chance to look/fix it yet.
