I have to clean out my gas tank, so I droped the gas tank and I had installed the walbro 255 L/h fuel pump prior, and Installed jus the little bag filter that came with it, now I am currious wich would be better the little bag or the stock box screen?

my parts car had a "bag/sock" type filter. But my TII and Sport have a box type filter. I think both are about the same.

I'd like to know which one filters better. I just used the small bag that came with my walbro, but the stock box filter has a much large surface area.

I finally got tired of waiting for a reply so I did a little research this mornign in the Lab after I finished my work.
I took 50ml of gasoline and a vacume flask and put each filter on the end of a tube I then inserted the filters each in different tryal with 10g of debris and mixted it, then started the vacume flask. did this twice once for each filter.

In the end the stock screen let way too much through for my liking,
the bag filter that comes with the walbro worked rather well only letting through the very fine stuff, not as much corse stuff as the box type screen that is stock.

Where can you get the filter for the Walbro? Any auto parts store?

probably the best bet would be to use the walbro sock inside the stock screen

Sorry to steal the post but I just installed my walboro yesterday and now my fuel gauge wont work. Im assuming it was that long rod with a wire wrapped around it that came unmounted or something when i put the assembly back in the tank. Anyone know exactly what to do to fix it?

Why don't you get a fuel pressure gauge and tell us?

Yes it would probably be best, but then you would have some modification, because I dont' think you can fit both filters on at the same time without modification. But that is most likely the best idea.

Ditto, they perform the same and I thought the stock was cooler.

How do you figure they perform the same did you not read the entire thread out of trials had the stock box screen type let more stuff through than the one that came with the walbro, these are real tests done in a Lab, not just a "guess". what do you base that assumption on?
