Verty

I was originally looking at a 10AE, but an S5 verty popped up in my radar. Thing is mint, 100K on body and motor and has a brand new back part of the roof.

Question - if the whole top was replaced, can one make a vert completely leak-free?

I ask as I live in Vancouver, Canada, which is similar in weather to Seattle = alot of not-so-heavy rain, rarely snows. I'm thinking of this as a DD.

Anyone with verts as a DD who don't live in Miami or LA?

I'd love to have a 10AE, but my heart will always be with the S5 series. Plus, being a vert, I can potentially become monogamous

Yes you can make it leak proof. I replaced the top, all the rubber and it was actually worse than before I spent the money. Had to make minor (pain staking) adjustments to glass and doors. It was all trial and error.

Good luck with yours.

Once I got my rubbers all stuck to the right place, mine became watertight. The last step was the little drain cups at the top of the 'A' Pillar.

so its not the roof itself, but the seals/seal to glass rather that makes verts "leaky".

I know a guy who drives his S2000 24/7....literally, even in snow. I'm aiming to do the same with this 7 if I get it. I can't let this one get away without a fight. being that it's black, shades of Miami Vice comes to mind.....minus the Ferrari Daytona...lol.

Anyone fooled around with making a hardtop for verts?

I also got an answer to support that claim.

It simply has to be done right when replaced. Thank you.

The only leaking problem I've ever had

Is when the water "gutters" along the A-pillars (especially at the top) aren't positioned right or are damaged. Easy fix (usually just a bit of re-alignment) and no leaking since.
